This is a sad news for open source: another case of stealing others' work, claim it as ones own WITHOUT mentioning the original authors nor releasing the modified code in compliance with the GPL license.

1. XVID

Various news related to the issue:
2. Newsforge- XVID leader: Despite code release, Sigma GPL problem still isn't resolved

3. Slashdot - Sigma Designs Accused of Copyright Infringement

4. DivX backs XVID (Check out the first paragraph of the updated homepage)

Corporation such as Sigma Designs should stop ripping off of others' hard work nor claiming it as their own credits. Not to mention violating the GPL license is illegal.

it's pretty fucked up, XVID was becoming very nice, and some fansubbers were moving to it, they're also trying out that new ogg format too though
