Well I got the new release and unfortunately it wont even start for me, I have the saturn bios, all updated drivers, dx8.1, running windows xp pro and as soon as I double click it I get an error with the debugger.exe.

Ive tried all the compatibility modes of xp and they all still crash, full pc specs are:

Athlon XP 2200+
128mb GF4 Ti 4200
512mbs pc2700
Epox 8K3A+ KT333
SoundBlaster Live 5.1 Plat
40gb 7200rpm Maxtor
40gb 7200rpm Nikimi
Windows XP Pro

Id love to get this running although I guess only for curiosity purposes since theres a modded saturn sitting behind me.

Cheers

Ok no replies but I now think I know the prob by trying to read the readme file, do i need all four files he stated that win2000 needed eg winaspi.dll, wowpost.exe, wnaspi32.dll and aspi32.sys? If so then thats my prob as I only have wnaspi32.dll, if I do need those other 3 files where can i grab them unless its something I shouldnt be asking then Ill do that myself.

You can download an aspi layer at www.ngemu.com

Check the epsxe downloads section.. I got the new satourne running, but it wasn't pretty.. And most games kept gettin sh2 errors.. All games ran at around 10 fps on my system with my voodoo 5 and 16 fps with my geforce 4 ti 4600.. Guess we'll have to wait a little longer for a fully playable saturn emu..

I tested:

Tomb Raider
Panzer Dragoon
Gardian Heroes
SFz3
DD collection
Daytona usa CCE..

Yeah fivefeet I knew the fps wasnt going to be great that has been stated constantly by the author but its more like i said for curiosity, as I have a modded saturn to play all the great games on anyway eg radiant silvergun, pdsaga, nights, but having it running 1600*1200 at 5fps on a monitor will still kinda be cool.

JonnyCasino: if the problem is the missing aspi layer u can get one here: http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&cat=%2fOperating+System%2fMicrosoft+Wind ows+XP&filekey=aspi_v470.exe

that one worked for me using windows xp, so u have a good chance that 2000 will too

Too bad I can't find a resolution option anywhere.. :( There is only 1x, 2x, ect.. No resolution options..

The aspi thing got it working for me under xp only tried out one game cause I was shattered then realised I hadnt configured any buttons so couldnt do any thing but any way the startup and last bronx title screen ere doing 15 - 23 fps. I suspect that it would have been much lower in game.

hrmn... okay, i got it to work after moving all the ASPIs into the Satourne folder... but uh... well basically, it doesn't accept any ISOs. i ripped Daytona, Sega Rally, and Panzer Dragoon so far, and it refuses to accept any of them. they all give me a "not acceptable" (dunno the proper french spelling) message, and refuse to boot if i load it up anyways. set the proper region code in the options as well. tried both of my BIOS dumps.

erm... what would that do? lol
aside from that i have the original games sitting right here (seeing as i ripped the ISOs myself), Satourne doesn't have CD drive support :o

Yes it does.. I ran a few games from the cd.. Slow as hell, but they ran.. SAtourne uses aspi for cd rom functions.. Windows Xp doesn't have aspi.. So you need to install it by using Force ASPI..

The above link is for Adaptec's ASPI support for windows xp

yet again, my CD drive is a curse. Satourne is the... what, 4th emulator to refuse to acknowledge that i have a CD drive. so far, ePSXe is the only emulator to accept the fact that there is indeed a working CD drive installed -_-

not sure whether to blame the OS or the drive, as all such emulators had no issues until i built this computer... but either way, i still get messages saying that there is no CD drive, or a blank drop menu where i should be able to select the drive.

i get that with the mega cd emulator Ages, too... in fact a tonne of emulators that use cd's turn round and ask for an apti driver when i have a perfectly good one sat there

Did you run the aspichk.exe file to see if the aspi files were installed correctly.

Jupiter

yup, all installed correctly. it's just something with the computer, as Gens does the same thing to me now, but never did on my last computer. tried each compatibility setting with XP for each of the emulators i've had that problem with, and came up with nothing. same goes for changing the drive setting mode from digital to analog.
