how/where to start

Is there any kind of guide or howto, to start making an emulator (generally)? I'm good at C, C++ and Visual Basic. Do u know any resource to get basic infos?

try http://emubook.emulation64.com/ for n64 emulation. its not a 'how to' guide, but it should be very useful. im sure theres similar sorta things for older systems if u look around the web.
