On-board sound good with Emulation/pc games?

I was wondering if on-board sound would be ok with emulation and pc games?the on-board sound i have is Direct Sound AC97 Audio

it depends completely on the quality of the chip, mostly the quality will be average.

It's that chip that's onboard on K7T Turbo (motherboard), right?
They're sweet, and no problem.

AC97 actually is not a chip, but an audio specification issued by Intel. Usually chips that stick to these specs are just called "AC97".

Yep i got the K7T Turbo m/b...so the sound is good enough with it?

Yes, it's sweet. I use the mobo myself, and I've had no problems with audio.

I got my onboard sound chip with MSI K7TPro266
you can see my specs in my sig

anyway, I have to enable the sync game to audio feature or there will be lots of poping sounds..

anyone have the same problem?

Amost all of my games runs at full speed, always.

Err, nope, never had any problems with it.
I think the emulation would run at full speed with your specs, yes. No doubt.
What plugin are you using? (audio)
