Zelda 2 - Menu Problem

I am currently playing Zelda 2 and am up to the point where I have to give the moons tear. Unfortunately I cannot give any objects, I cannot select them with any button. After pressing the stat button I just move around the 4 screens but the object does not select. Is this a rom problem ? I have no trouble with Zelda 1. I have attached a screen shot. I also notice that there are 2 return buttons on my screen. Please Help !!!

Try looking at your controller options, I believe it's related to assigning both the D-pad and stick to the same controls.:bunny:

Hmm the 2 return buttons are normal. You can basically exit this menu with both the red (START) and green (B) button.
The digitial buttons or R and Z can be used to advance in the submenus. The analog pad is used to select the items.

Tk64's hint to double check your control (e.g. both assigned to the same buttons) seems the most reasonable approach to fix this.
