The difference in speed between 1.4 and 1.5 should be minimal, too small for any person to catch up on. Check if your specs meet the recomended ones and if the game you are trying to run is supported...

AFAIk there is no difference in speed at all, outside of the few games that are changed (and clearly marked in purple).

128MB of RAM. Ibm Aptiva.
RADEON 32MB SDR VideoCard
Sound blaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1
i was trying to Run Super Mario 64 & Star Fox 64.

Skipping sound on your system is normal, to get good quality sound the NTSC (Jap & Usa) games have to run at a constant 60fps and PAL (Eur) games should run at 50fps.
The only way to speed up emulation is to get a new comp. or disable sound by selection "No Sound" in the settings of PJ64. The first option is the best but... the most expensive!

by the the way,
my system is:
duron 1G
128sd ram
tnt2 m64

if i change my video card to g2mx400, can it keep running at 60fps or faster than i use tnt2m64?

First, the no sound plugin is under options, then settings, and finally in the sound plugin chcice. To answer your other question, not really. But the video card can limit the speed of the game if there isn't enough memory. The best way to keep it running at a constant sped is to upgrade the cpu and add more ram.
