cant get mario64 to work

I am a noob to all of this. I am using 1964 and trying to play maro64 but everything is all messed up and very choppy. i would be gratefull if someone would help me fih=gure out how to fix this.

Hiya.

It might help to give up your setup information. For example, are you using Direct X or OpenGL to emulate video?
