Rice video plugin does not work, help

I use Project 64 1.6...some games need Rice Video 6.1.1 ... I downloaded this plugin (also downloaded from different sites) but when I want to use it I always get an error (kernel or program error). What's the problem?

How do I get it to work?

If your video card can handle it, use Glide64 instead. Don't know if Radeon 9600 can handle Glide64, but update your video card drivers (make sure to get the Radeon drivers that support 9600, newer driversets don't, IIRC).

I have to use Radeon drivers from 2006. I cannot use newer ones as they crash my PC often (and almost every 3D game). This is a known problem and does not only affect my computer.

EDIT Glide64 does not work. I get the same error as with Rice 6.1.1.

Working plugins are:

Jabo 3D6, Jabo 3D8 and Rice 6.1.0.
