Hello people, this is my first post and i'm trying to learn some stuff, i hope someone can help me...
Well, the thing is i want some Models from Killer 7, to mess around and stuff. The thing is i have the .gcm file for Killer 7. Searching around i founded this program that allowed me to "unzip" the .gcm, wich got me tons of folders and weird files.
The thing is that when i did this there was this folder that is called "3Ddata", where i think are some 3d Models (Maybe?). So, the thing is that there are some files and stuff, but they'r all on .dat, and i don't have too much knowledge on programs or any stuff, so i can't get to open this file and see if there are 3d Models ...

So, does anyone know what can i do? How to "open" this files?
I will upload the files so anyone up to help can try to do something with them.

Uhm, i can pm the files if someone wants to give them a try.

I hope someone knows how to open them, or if they are models at least.
(:

Here are two models that are supposed to be for Dan Smith.
File1: *snip*
File2: *snip*l

I hope someone knows how to open them, or if they are models at least.

If you don't know, how to reverse engineer some file formats, you only have a chance to rip them via dolphin and the 3D Ripper DX (http://www.deep-shadows.com/hax/3DRipperDX.htm).

afaik does Killer7 not work with dolphin so 3dripper DX cant be used ...

Yeah, i knew that. Killer 7 is not emulated by Dolphin, and i can't run 3dripper DX on my pc, maybe because i have vista, dunno.
Well, so, there's no way i can open those files?

Besides actually reverse engineering the model format, and making a program to convert them to a format readable by a standard program, I don't think you could.

Unless you somehow get a hold of the development tools used to make the GCM version of Killer 7.

So, unless i have some really good programing knowledge (or get someone that does) i can't do shit? ... that sucks :(

What do you mean by "tools used to make the .gcm"?

He means the development tools that were used to create the GameCube version of killer7.

Pretty much. Last time I tried to understand an unknown format it confused me, so unfortunately I can't help. Sorry :(

Study programming languages (assembly for starters), reverse-engineering, and/or become a console game developer.

Plead Grasshopper Manufacture to lend you their development kit.

Uhm you forgot to mention thats gonna take about few years and requires hard work (meaned as to be perfect in math) otherwise you fail!
Im always pessimitically

I think you just need a good understanding of how models are put together, and making patterns from hex dumps of a file. Oh yeah and good knowledge of a language and how to use it to render the models. (Soemthing liek C or Java would work I think)

I does run with the DolphinSVN1943 with openGl gfx plugin, but I couldnt grab any models , just some weird stuff. You can try it yourself with GLXtractor ( and get some texture out ;)
It runs pretty decent on my old singlecore pc ( not fully playable yet )
so we just have to wait
oh and also you could try it to emulate it with pcsx2 and "grab" it there, but you have to figure out how. afaik there was some overlay problem with 3dripper DX ...

I might try to get something goin there again.

good luck

oh and you could try to simple exchange filenames and storage paths within the gcm file too!
to play with curtis was my plan, I never succeded haha.
but I managed to put some music files from k7 into ssbm so I could play them in the options menü ;D
