It has been just over half a year since the last major Mupen64Plus release, so it's been a long time coming, but I'm happy to present version 1.5! This release is more evolutionary than revolutionary, with many code cleanups and improvements to existing features. Please try it out and report any problems that you have on our Google Code Issue Tracker (http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/issues/list).

Major New Features

Rom Cache System by Tillin9, Okaygo, and Hasone.
Qt4 GUI by slougi, Tillin9, and others
Support for Macintosh OSX platform with Intel CPUs

Minor New Features

Debugger improvements
QT GUI: translations for English, Norwegian, German, and Dutch
Configurable key commands for special emulator functions
Our own custom test ROM, courtesy of Marshallh
jttl_audio: added GTK GUI configuration dialog
soft reset function (hit F9)
jttl_audio: both SDL-based and OSS-based volume control methods are now supported
LZMA, BZip2, 7-zip archive support
Multi-file Zip support
GTK GUI: user-configurable columns in ROM browser
LIRC - added support for speedup, slowdown, pause, and frame advance

Bug fixes

There are dozen of bugfixes included, fixing problems with: save states, certain games, crashing bugs, GUI bugs, performance issues, and visual artifacts.

In ~/.mupen64plus (you can reach it by using the Finder menu Go > Go to folder)

Thanks.

I'm assuming that we'll eventually be able to configure a save directory ourselves?

Tililian,

In order to use the savestate converter tool, download and unpack the source code archive for Mupen64Plus v1.5, then read the tools/savestate_convert.txt file.

Great! I've been waiting patiently for another Windows version ;-p

This has been the best N64 Emulator I've used on Windows too believe it or not. It's even better than PJ64 o.o

I don't see any point in moving to Linux yet, so I'm staying on Windows.

any way to upgrade without losing any saves/plugins/etc? Just run the installer from the same directory?

You can upgrade the software just by running the installer, however the save state file format has changed from v1.4.x (in order to fix a bug). If you want to use your older savestates, you must convert them to the new format (remember to make a backup).

In order to use the savestate converter tool, download and unpack the source code archive for Mupen64Plus v1.5, then read the tools/savestate_convert.txt file.

I have some trouble with my home internet connection so the win32 build will be a while longer... sorry about that.

It crashes trying to extract ROMs from a 7z archive in the ROM cache.Added ROM: Glover (E) (M3) [!]
Added ROM:
Deflating 7zip archive.
Segmentation faultThere's one archive with several ROMs inside that could be the one causing that.

i would luv U long time for compiling&upping it somewhere!
i dont understand enough of coding for porting it to win32/64...
i am only able to compile the latest SVN of Dolphin for my own usage...
could you -pretty please- continue your work? so all the windows-users can take advantage of all the work that the mupen64plus-team made, too?

... You do understand that it's not stable, right?

Which means you can't really use it to play games...

FloW3184
March 24th, 2009, 23:24
who do you mean? me?

Pyromanik
March 25th, 2009, 00:32
Yes.

What I'm saying is that if you're wanting it for normal use... this isn't really the place to look at the moment.
However if you're wishing to help test, that's cool.

Just making sure you understand where the port is at, becaue it's not too clear in your post.

FloW3184

if porting it to win32/64 would be easy i had done it myself ;)
i need linux for compiling it... but i am lazy. (i found a discription what i need to compile it for windows using linux...)

Pyromanik
March 26th, 2009, 21:34
err, what?

I hope you're just talking about mingw, or you're definatly going about something the hard way, if not impossible.
