Sound Card Problem? Echo

I've got a C-Media AC97 audio card.

And for some reason recently, the sound keeps changing from having echoes, then not having them, it's a rather odd thing to be listening to some Oasis, then all of a sudden it starts echoing and then stops.

Very odd, never came across this problem before.

mmm... oasis... echoing.... your sure your not just really high?

lol

i guess make sure your drivers are up to date :)

Sound drivers often have a feature to set a "virtual environment", like in a concert hall or under a bridge. Maybe this has to do with the issue.

So as far as I can tell I haven't been able to find any newer drivers than what I have.

And to Mavtak, I'm aware of that Virtual Environment thing and I have tried messing with it, but unless I choose "generic" I get an echo all the time instead. This is through Xear 3D.

Ahh, I think I may have found the problem.

Well USUALLY when I listen to music it is because I'm playing Diablo 2.

And then I just noticed that whenever I enter a cave, the music echoes.

So I turned off the 3D sound and Environmental effects in the game settings and I'm pretty sure that should fix it.

I guess It just seemed random.
