Turok 1 - black screen

In Turok 1, when I select 'new game' or 'training' from the game menu, I get a black screen but the jungle music keeps playing. I've tried changing all the settings in the graphics plugin, and I've tried changing the CF, but I can't get it to work. Anyone know how to fix this?

try using some decent drivers for that card of yours

Ok, I've got the newest drivers, but it didn't change anything

Check if the audio plugin is set to sync game to audio. If it is on, then turn it off.

Already tried that out, the only difference that I could see is a change in the fps.

Change "Counter Factor" to 2 and have fun.

hmmm... in that case try to install pj64(from the 1.4 .exe) to a different direcory( no need to delete the old pj64) and run everything on defaults, ESPECIALLY DO NOT copy the new rdb (use the default one).


p.s. yes it is orson (don't remember if it's the OVA Orson or the COTHK Orson)

ok, I re downloaded the PJ and put it in a new folder. Turok works now, but is there any way to fix the map? All I get when I hit the map button is a jumble of solid shapes.

I believe that's a known issue.
