OkayGo and I setup an IRC channel at FreeNode for Mupen64Plus.
Edit: We have moved over to Partyvan IRC Network, for a few reasons.
Edit2: Unmoved

Server: irc.freenode.net
Channel: #mupen64plus

This place is for any discussion related to the development of Mupen64Plus. You must follow the rules of FreeNode when on this channel (because, of course, FreeNode is the server.)

If you do not have an IRC client, here are some ways to get on.

Windows Clients

XChat: http://www.silverex.org/download/
This is XChat for windows. The Official Windows port costs money, but this unofficial one does not, and it is completely legal (XChat is open source, the official windows build is the only thing that costs money)

HydraIRC: http://www.hydrairc.com/
HydraIRC is another very nice free IRC client. This one sort of mimics mIRC so if you have used mIRC before and, say your trial expired, or you no longer have it installed, this is a good replacement.

Bersirc: http://bersirc.free2code.net/
Bersirc is a nice open source lightweight IRC client. You'll find it's not as beefed out as most clients, but it is really easy to use and lightweight.

jIRCii: http://jircii.dashnine.org/
This one is quite simply a nice client that looks alike mIRC. It runs using Java, so unless you have Java installed and aren't looking for a lightweight client, you'll find that this one does what you need and a bit more.

mIRC: http://www.mirc.com/
Beginners might like this one, but it costs money. You really shouldn't use this because it's not free.

Linux Clients
XChat: http://www.xchat.org/
Unsurprisingly, this Open Source GTK IRC client is also available for Linux (but the official Linux builds are completely free)

Konversation: http://konversation.kde.org/
Konversation is a nice IRC client for KDE. It is very user friendly.

jIRCii: http://jircii.dashnine.org/
This one is quite simply a nice client that looks alike mIRC. It runs using Java, so unless you have Java installed and aren't looking for a lightweight client, you'll find that this one does what you need and a bit more.

Other Ways
FreeNode Java Chat: http://java.freenode.net/
You can reach the Java IRC client hosted at Freenode's website.

NetSplit FreeNode Java Client: http://irc.netsplit.de/webchat/?net=freenode
You can also use this Java Client hosted elsewhere to access FreeNode and jump onto #mupen64plus.

How To
Get onto FreeNode:
Enter the Server information above into your IRC client as the IRC server URL. Then, press your client's connect button.

Get onto #mupen64plus:
You can either type
/join #mupen64plusinto your IRC clients prompt, or you can manually browse through the channel list using your clients channel list function.

Need more help?
Here are some tutorials. The most popular tutorial is posted first and then others are added on with only a number. These are not page numbers. Trust me.

For Windows users that want a decently easy to use IRC client without paying (well, you can donate) HydraIRC is nice. http://www.hydrairc.com/

If you don't mind java-based, http://jircii.dashnine.org/ is nice too :)

Great idea, I hope the feedback there will help in the development process.

...And while we're whoring our favorite IRC clients: irssi (http://www.irssi.org/), the client of the future! =P

I haven't tried irssi. I was merely trying to expand the selection to include free clients for Windows that don't suck terribly since mIRC was the dominate one mentioned and it is often used/exploited by bad people though not so common these days :P

I set up a bot to relay a lot of cool things. This is also a test post.

I highly recommend X-chat, the free GTK IRC client. Tbh, anything but mIRC is good, but Xchat is one of the easiest ones and I like promoting it because it's OSS (we are talking about Mupen64Plus discussions here :P)

We have moved over to irc.partyvan.fm #mupen64plus for the following reasons:

1) Sponsorship.
2) Host cloaking.
3) Special attention (okaygo is an oper)

We have unmoved, irc is still irc.freenode.net

actually, the last time i checked, mirc has a bug where if you click out of the window, the "keep using trial" button becomes un-grayed.

EDIT: also, you might want to add colloquy to your list of irc clients. it's a free mac irc client.
