Tiny Screen in Ogre Battle 64

Running p64 on an

athlon xp 1.9 ghz
1 gig + of ram
radeon x700 256 meg
windows xp
dual monitor each at 1280x1024

No matter what graphics settings I try, any resolution and either window or full screen, when in the actual game it won't stay full screen, but appears like this

has anyone encountered a similar problem and knows of a solution? otherwise I may need to get a magnifying glass perhaps...

Drivers are fine and stable, don't have any other roms to test as I got this just to play that game, but I will get a couple and test them, see if I can find out some more information

no, not yet but I will try now, because major's mask and mario kart 64 look ok, so it might be the rom or the video plugin...
