graphic problems

Hi I have had project 64 running on my laptop before but now when i click on it or try to start a game it gives me this error Graphics Error- Direct 3d failed to initialize you HAL device make sure you have properly configured 3d graphics card compatiable with direct 3d 6.0 then i click ok and this comes up Error- failed to initialize graphics. I have tried a system restore but doesn't seem to help any ideas thanks in advance

i tried the 16 bit colour mode but didnt seem to work then managed to find out what my graphics was and found a driver and now its working good again thanks for your help
