asking for help.....

i just downloaded the project 64 emulator and this is the first time i have ever used one or tried to download roms and i just cant figure out how to do it
every time i download it wont ever work
any help would be appreciated

it just says it cannot play the file
i am probably doing something wrong
so i just need to know how to to download the files correctly

it says
attempt to open file failed
and then the project 64 screen goes black for a second

Ummm... okay.

First of all: what game are you trying to play?

Second: Has it been unzipped?

Third: Are you trying to play it by clicking "Open ROM" and then clicking on the game file?

idk if it is unzipped, how can i tell?

and no i just tried to open with the emulator
i cant find the file after i get the error message

Does it have an extention named ".zip", ".rar", or ".7z"? It's zipped, if it does.

And, I can't help you with that error message.

if its .rar ir .7z or any others it cant read through it unless its a .zip

Hint: WinRAR can works wonders with zipped files.
BTW you took the name I've always wanted but never thought of! :borg:

Project64 can read uncompressed ROM files or a single ROM file inside a zipped archive. It can not read the contents of RAR or 7-Zip archives.

As a ground rule, use the Rom Browser to load a game and not File --> Open Rom.

Edit:Why would a rule be not to click open rom anyway i see no differnce??

IIRC, there have been a few odd cases where loading a game using that method doesn't work. It's a rare occurrence though.
