Best format for N64 ROMs

OK, I was just wondering what the 'best' format format for N64 ROMs is. I keep mine in big-endian (z64) format.

Does it really matter?

it matters a lot if you're doing things to ROMs or playing them via a backup unit, but if you're playing in an emulator it doesn't matter at all - with most emulators.

personally i use the v64 format, since ultrahle/suprahle only accepts .v64 roms, plus they work with any other emulator for that matter

if you want to change yours to .v64/.z64 i suggest you use tool64, probably the easiest tool around for correctly changing the crc order

but as smiff said, if you play them via backup units then they will be a different matter.

uHLE can load z64 fine it just doesnt list them for some reason. i hacked a version out that does (on my site).

Yah, I already use Tool64 to convert them. But I've noticed that whenever I load a ROM, PJ64 spends about half a second byteswapping it. Plus there's that odd bug with uHLE. So I'll prly convert them all to v64.

Thanks, guys.
