DVD drive does not recognize Gamecube media

I borrowed my friend's SSBM and tried running it in the emulator(Dolphin), but my DVD drive won't even recognize the disc. It's as if there was nothing in the drive.

Any suggestions?

You can't run Gamecube discs on a CD/DVD Drive.
