[Here's what I've done so far:

Any suggestions on retexturing the windows?

I don't have much of an eye for texture art like DataDayne and DDRPIP, but I will tell you that the bricks look sort of plain, but the wooden step looks awesome. About the windows, it's a texture, so it can be retextured, you just have to know how to handle transparency. I use Gif Movie Gear to enable transparency in my images.

That platform looks a LOT like this texture:

Alizaid

The brick texture:
36837

The roof texture:
36838

The platform texture:
36839

The yellow brick road texture:
36841

The flat roof texture:
36840

Yeah, the bricks seems plain, most likely because I replaced most of the textures dumped in that stage to the brick texture and that the bricks are small. The platform isn't wooden as shown above, and it does look alot like the texture that UnaidedCoder showed. I will do the window textures later on. Thanks CrashDance22 and UnaidedCoder being the first two to give feedback.

hmm.. they don't match.. ya know?
the changes in colors vary to much, it doesn't have a theme; and it is kinda bland.
just brighten them up and add some color
but it's a good start i suppose; keep working on it.

Datadayne
July 5th, 2007, 23:08
The platform texture does not match the everything else. Its not bad but not something I would die to have. Keep working on it, I am eager to see what you will do with the characters.

Alizaid

Changed the platform colour to match the brick colour:

Also, by any chance do you have any oval window textures with no background? I seem to have trouble loading them in without the white background.

what image editor do you use?

If you use photoshop, then use the background eraser tool.
If you use gimp, then add an alpha transparency to your texture.

Alizaid
July 6th, 2007, 03:35
I use Photoshop.

Alizaid
July 6th, 2007, 03:41
I redid the textures in the castle(except for the windows) making it look darker.

It should be less plain now:

36863 36864
36865 36866

DDRPIP
July 6th, 2007, 05:00
way to sharp.. hurts my eyes... go for simpler textures.. not bland but not too hard..
those just stand out way too much; try adding your own colors and come up with something new

Alizaid
July 6th, 2007, 15:16
Which textures should be replaced(Other than the window)?

36868 36869
36870 36871

UnaidedCoder

Well, why don't you modify the ones you have instead of searching for textures on google?

DDRPIP
July 6th, 2007, 19:15
Well, why don't you modify the ones you have instead of searching for textures on google?

yes... you should make your own textures; just do your best and I'll tell you what I think.

Alizaid
July 6th, 2007, 19:37
Yeah, mabye I should make my own textures instead of searching for them in google. Besides I have Photoshop version 9 which has options that will automatically changes the tones of the textures since I'm not much of an artist.
Another thing is that I'm planning on doing the background.
Once I'm done with this stage, I might do the others stages.

Alizaid
July 6th, 2007, 23:50
Changed the texture colors to more beige themed, and made them less sharp.
The textures should'mt hurt anyone's eyes now.
The texture were modified by me. I couldn't make my own textures because my art skills suck and the filtering options in the photoshop program wasn't as good as I thought since they make the textures look more sharp:

3687336874
3687536876

I'm still working on the windows and the castle spikes on the very top.
I will do the background soon.

Looks ok style it out a bit. Darken it a tad.

Alizaid
July 9th, 2007, 15:29
Darkened the textures a tad making them look more stylish and added windows.
Replaced the Hyrule castle icon picture in the stage select:

3691136912
3691336914

The window on the very top seems to fit in, but the other windows have pixels all around them. I tried to use the background eraser tool but it doesn't seem to erase them. Also, the background textures of the stages are divided into thin strips and I can't seem to find background textures of link's stage. If any chance can someone please attach the background textures?

Datadayne
July 9th, 2007, 16:26
Its getting there, but there are tilling issues on the roof. And I dont like the new icon.

yeah the new icon looks like another google pic.....

Alizaid

Removed the google image icon and fixed issues with the roof tiling:

36926

This is what I'm talking about background textures being divided into strips.
Take a look:

36927

It's only 6 pixels high, so I can only enlarge to 36 pixels high. It's going to be a real pain finding the background textures for Link's stage in the dump folder unless someone either attachs them or just tells me the name of the textures.
That background texture above is either Mario's or Link's stage in Training mode just to let you know.

DDRPIP
July 10th, 2007, 16:59
yeah, paper mario has these and the title screen is the same... I have yet to tackle them.. xD

Almost all games have textures like that, and most have it worse. Like the planet icons in starfox 64 on the lylat ystem screen: They are not only made of strips, but they are animated. That means that each frame was dumped into individual strips, making a HUGE amount of textures that would be impossible to rearrange. A lot of larger text (like the logo) were shredded into 1 pixel high trips too. Also, I think Majora's mask's map image was shredded too.

Just ignore them or run them through a batch automate, because doing it by hand would be annoying unless there are only a few strips.

Alizaid
July 10th, 2007, 23:09
Yeah, I'm not going to do the background because of how many strips of textures are in it. This also means that I 'm not going to replace the icon.

UnaidedCoder
July 10th, 2007, 23:33
Send em my way, I'll take a shot at it.

Alizaid
July 16th, 2007, 23:37
Before I go on retexturing other stages, are there any other adjustments I need to make.

July 17th, 2007, 00:04
Yeah, I'm not going to do the background because of how many strips of textures are in it. This also means that I 'm not going to replace the icon.

Its not impossible to do. You just need patience. It only took me about 3 hours to do a background for one stage.

Before I go on retexturing other stages, are there any other adjustments I need to make.

I dont think so. It looks ok to me. What stage are you dooing next?

Alizaid
July 17th, 2007, 00:22
I'll be doing the Polygon Stage, the Metal Mario stage and the Master Hand stage since not much people are doing those stages.

Alizaid
July 20th, 2007, 04:06
Made it ancient egyptian themed:

37103 37104
37105 37106

Datadayne
July 20th, 2007, 04:57
I like the egyptian look to it man.

July 20th, 2007, 17:00
That is very cool!

Graxer
July 20th, 2007, 18:41
Good job! Please don't make a new thread for each stage though!

Alizaid
July 28th, 2007, 02:37
Is there anything I need to re-adjust before I do the Metal Mario stage?

Alizaid
July 30th, 2007, 23:48
Screenshots of the Metal Mario stage:

37200 37201

I'll try and retexture Metal Mario.

Datadayne
July 31st, 2007, 00:32
Im not seeing the theme your going for on this stage. It looks too abstract.

Alizaid
August 9th, 2007, 22:58
Made it gold themed:

37234 37235 37236

I'll try and add more detail to the gold crystals to make it look more realistic.

Datadayne
August 9th, 2007, 23:34
An emboss effect might look good for this theme. But remmember to change the color back to gold if you do run it through emboss.

Alizaid
August 10th, 2007, 02:16
Ran it through emboss:

37237 37238
37239 37240

Datadayne
August 10th, 2007, 02:36
Looking better, but it looks like there is too much noise.

Alizaid
August 10th, 2007, 19:28
How would I reduce the noise in the textures?

Datadayne
August 10th, 2007, 20:39
Use Gaussian blur and then sharpen the edges.

Alizaid
August 10th, 2007, 22:07
Reduced noise:

37243 37244 37245

And now there's golden mario!

Datadayne
August 10th, 2007, 22:27
Now it looks better. And golden mario is pretty cool.

Alizaid
August 13th, 2007, 23:03
Screenshots of the Master Hand stage(finished):

The colours of the textures are changed ingame.

Alizaid
August 15th, 2007, 00:12
Here it is:

37264

Please do give feedback on my textures and post any problems with the textures(ex. tiling issues, too sharp or noisy).

I will be posting updates for new textures for other stages.

Note: Here's the stage modifier code to play some of the 1p mode stages:

800A4D09 00xx(replace xx with the value below)

-0E Polygon stage
-0D Metal Mario stage
-10 Master Hand stage(does not work)

I'm not sure why the Master Hand stage doesn't work, but I'll find a way to play it the way you want.(Not playing against Master Hand and the opponent having more than one life).

Nice I like them. Link's castle is a little bright but it's different which is nice also. I'l download them when i get off class :D

Keep it up alizaid. You'll only get better from here.

Thanks. The next update will have new textures for the Kirby beta stages.

you dont say.

Alizaid
August 28th, 2007, 22:59
I'm very sorry about this, but it's going to take quite a while before I can release update #1. It's because some of my family members went overseas and took stuff with them including the computer which contained my textures for SSB64.

Find the measurements of one of the strips, and gather all that match that size. Then you need to add a number on each, to find out which order they go in, and then replace it with something new

-_- Seriously, I only visit this forum about once/month, but even I know that this pack was released months ago (I've been playing it with my friends since probably late August). It surely wouldn't be hard to search the forum, would it?

I have searched for it, it wasn't hard at all, unfortunately it yielded no results. If you say this pack was released months ago, then please send it to me or tell me where you found it.

If you search the forum based on the name of the game and the author of the pack, it's easy to find. I would think that this would be the obvious way to search; perhaps I'm mistaken.

TheIronKnuckle
November 26th, 2007, 08:32
lol, you aren't mistaken. But search = futile. If you know where it is it would have been easier to just throw down a link. I got it anyway, through a filesearching thingy.
