It's some new hack I've implented. If people like it, it'll stay. If not, it'll go. :P
HP: This rises and falls according to how active you are.
MP: Shows how long a user has been with the forums and their level of activity.
EXP: Shows how close you are to reaching the next level.
Every time your experience reaches 100% you get a level up.
Thanks to Knoman (Avalon) for the hack and thanks to Pixeljunction for inspiring me to implent it. :)

Well, the number of posts are reflected in your level, kind of. Also, if you click a person's profile you'll see their number of posts. As I said, I couldn't have it all in the postbit.
It's all very simple though, if people would just voice their opionions I would get an idea if I should keep it or kick it.

yeah, its amusing for the first few minutes but then it kinda loses its appeal. it'd be better if the post count could fit in somewhere though, its a pain having to click on your profile to find it. but maybe thats just because im lazy

It would be neat if HP was this: the more new posts you reply to the higher it is.
MP: Sounds like "magic power". What if it was how many hours a day (on average) you were online, a la Malcom. Someone with a higher MP would be online more often. How about a small program like Yahoo Messenger... it reports to EmuTalk.net whenever you have an Internet connection that you're online.
EXP/level #: Sound fine the way they are.

Hey wait. Our IPs are all logged right? So just have the server ping us every 5-10 mins. :P Then you know how much everyone's online.
P.S. Thought some more... HP should be how many new posts you've read, not replied to.
P.P.S. Why do the mods have full HPs?!

What is, The matrix, the formula to calculate levels? Let's say a user has 100 posts and an average of 3 posts per day.

Quite simple, here goes...
$level = pow (log10 ($post[posts]), 3);
$ep = floor (100 * ($level - floor ($level)));
$showlevel = floor ($level + 1);
$hpmulti =round ($postsperday / 6, 1);
if ($hpmulti > 1.5) {
$hpmulti = 1.5;
}
if ($hpmulti < 1) {
$hpmulti = 1;
}
$maxhp = $level * 25 * $hpmulti;
$hp= $postsperday / 4;
if ($hp >= 1) {
$hp= $maxhp;
} else {
$hp= floor ($hp * $maxhp);
}
$hp= floor ($hp);
$maxhp= floor ($maxhp);
if ($maxhp <= 0) {
$zhp = 1;
} else {
$zhp = $maxhp;
}
$hpf= floor (100 * ($hp / $zhp)) - 1;
$maxmp= ($jointime * $level) / 5;
$mp= $post[posts] / 3;
if ($mp >= $maxmp) {
$mp = $maxmp;
}
$maxmp = floor ($maxmp);
$mp = floor ($mp);
if ($maxmp <= 0) {
$zmp = 1;
} else {
$zmp = $maxmp;
}
$mpf= floor (100 * ($mp / $zmp)) - 1;

I do like the gender thing though, maybe add an Age as well. or just put a check box option in the User CP to have it display the Age automatically calculated from your birthdate. What would be really cool is if you could have it display a special image under the name when its someones birthday.

Although it looks very nice and is meant to make the boards more interesting, the more I think of it, the less I want to keep it. There's nothing I'd hate more than see this board get ruined by spam like most boards tend to do.
I think we've done great so far about keeping the spam down, but this kind of asks for it. I don't know, I'll think so more.

What does good riddance mean? I'm certain that I've heard it before, I'm just unable to place in in a sentence or in a context... I didn't even notice it was gone, the wow factor didn't take long to disappear but it feels good to know that we are getting somewhere but then again as long as nobody messes with the white background I'm satisfied...

we should have a story board were poeple can add to the adventure and post graphics of created charactors fighting and things like that. then the RPG thing could be made to only feflect that aera of the board. I know if you can ommit one section from being reflected (way off topic) then i bet that you could make it to only reflect in a certain board. that would be great ill post an example of it soon.

April 10th, 2002, 00:58
I used to have something like that in my old Diablo Guild. We'd choose character class and start a story based in the Diablo world. But the ending of each post would be inconlusive, left for the next person to add more to the story line. It really got quite wild. Its like that old camp fire game where a person starts a story, tells it for 2 min and then passes to the next person who has to improvise for the next part.
