Whatever button I assign to the start button, I can't access the start menu. I first noticed this in pokemon diamond when I wanted to save it but couldn't because the start menu wasn't working. Then in FFIII but luckily it has a menu button on the touchscreen.
Is this a bug? I saw someone complain about this on another forum but they said they fixed it but gave no instructions on how to

EDIT At the beginning of most games where you have to "press start" the button I have assigned to start works but not in-game.
