Zelda ocarina of time fps issue

Does anyone know how to set the max amount of frames per second?

I have been playing OOT on project64 1.7 and i thought it was running a little bit slow and unsmooth so I tried unchecking limit fps. Then it ran at around 350-400 fps, and obviously i couldn't play. Does anyone know how to set the max amount of fps? I want it around 60

With the limit on, it's 60 for NTSC and 50 for PAL. Mupen also has a feature to let you increase the VI/s (FPS) to a custom number.

Well, Project 64 DOES run at 60 for NTSC, but it's really multiplying the game's default framerate up to 60 for more precise FPS.

So, for example, the Temple of Time is really defaulted at 20FPS whereas Hyrule Field is defaulted 30FPS. Project64 will display this as 60FPS no matter what the default is. So if your game were to lag and Hyrule Field were to be 20FPS then Project64 would read 40FPS.

In fact, the only game that ever reaches 60FPS is F-Zero.

The Great Gunblade Wielder
Legend of Zelda is rendered at 60 fields per second, or 50 fields per second, depending on whether your running a ntsc, or pal rom.

the FPS is really 20fps for NTSC and 18fps for PAL

X-fi ;) the framerate in Zelda isn't variable, its fixed to 20 or 18.. theres no points in the game where it goes at 30

Yes... I believe you're confusing FPS with VI/s. What PJ64 shows you at the statusbar is VI/s (vertical interupts per second), or fields per second. Not FPS. FPS is fixed to around 20, as mentioned.

thanks

Thank you for your replys but I have one more question

How do I know if it is a NTSC or PAL besides looking at the VI/s. Is it in the title?

Your best bet is to acquire the information before downloading your game. There is no obvious way - aside from this - to know whether it is PAL or NTSC.
Although, you could try using goodn64 to rename it and see if it's PAL or NTSC.

These letters represent Australia, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. On occasion, any of these countries (and more) can have a unique dump for a game.

Standard Code Notes:
[a] This is simply an alternate version of a
ROM. Many games have been re-released to
fix bugs or even to eliminate Game Genie
codes (Yes, Nintendo hates that device).
-------------------
A bad dump often occurs with an older
game or a faulty dumper (bad connection).
Another common source of ROMs is a
corrupted upload to a release FTP.
-------------------
[f] A fixed game has been altered in some way
so that it will run better on a copier
or emulator.
-------------------
[h] Something in this ROM is not quite as it
should be. Often a hacked ROM simply has
a changed header or has been enabled to
run in different regions. Other times it
could be a release group intro, or just
some kind of cheating or funny hack.
-------------------
[o] An overdumped ROM image has more data
than is actually in the cart. The extra
information means nothing and is removed
from the true image.
-------------------
[t] A trainer is special code which executes
before the game is begun. It allows you
to access cheats from a menu.
-------------------
[!] Verified good dump. Thank God for these!

On a side note, isn't this thread going a little bit off-topic?
