i have recently been trying to play zelda-ocarina of time, but it keeps crashing after i play for about 5-10 mins. it actually happens with most of the roms i have. when it happens everything just stops. my mouse will work for about 10 seconds, then everything freezes and i have to cut the power and turn it back on. the latest time it happened, i got the "windows has recovered from a serious error" message, along with these two files that it said had crashed. do these have anything to do with project 64?

What is your PJ64 graphics config? From what I can see so far, you only have 64mb of video memory. 128mb would be much more sufficient. Make sure you're using a low-res, 16-bit full screen setting for PJ64 and make sure anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering are turned off.

Project64 is n't heavy on video memory,

it is more reliant on CPU and System memory.

you can run it perfectly fine on a 32mb card as long as it has dx8 compliancy.

Does this happen when you're running any other CPU intensive programs? The fact that everything seems to totally crash after several minutes of running normally makes me suspect that perhaps something might be overheating. Someone else might have a better suggestion though.

like i said before, i dont think my video card is the problem. i can play almost any game out there on 800x600,even half life 2 if i turn down some of the details. so i dont think thats the problem.

as for other apps running, i usually only have firefox running, but ive also tried it without anything running. and with nothing else running, p64 never uses more than 50% cpu. i do have the windows security center running along with avg virus protection, ill try it with those disabled.

the only other thing is, i am using an xbox controller with an xbox-usb adapter i bought. i use this with many other programs and dont have a problem. i tried switching controller plugins but that didnt work. ive tried without it, but i cant play for more than a few mins with the keyboard cause i hate not having an analog stick to use.

well i think i figured it out. it seems since i was using a controller, my screen saver was kicking in every 5 mins. i disabled that and it seems to be working now
