Quite good combination, a Core 2 E6300 will do as well and is a little bit cheaper

ok, the list now stands at...

E6300 (£125.03) - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...B&PageMode =1

Gigabyte GA 965P DS3 (£98.46) - http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...B&PageMode =1

Corsair Memory TWIN2X1024A (£103.56) - http://www.dabs.com/productview.asp...&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0

I'd planned on only spending £350 for the upgrade, but I'd not factored in the new motherboard not taking my old AGP graphics card. So two final recomendations then please...

A quiet power supply and a good cheap graphics card.

Cheers again!

Overclockers.co.uk actually ends up being cheaper than Dabs in almost every case, although sometimes not by that much depending on the product. The selection with OcUK is quite a bit better though.

With OcUK right now, Gigabyte board is now £93.99 inc. VAT, and the exact same Corsair can be had for £93.99 inc. VAT too, saving you just over £14.

However, the E6300 Retail is £135.11 with OcUK and OEM without heatsink is £126.89, so the one you selected at Dabs is highly likely not to include a heatsink at that price. Dabs' site does not state whether or not it comes with a stock heatsink (at the price, I suspect not), so a direct price comparison is not possible here.

As for the recommendations for the PSU/Graphics:

£88.11 inc. VAT - BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-025-BG)

£64.61 inc. VAT - OCZ ModStream 520w ATX2.2 Power Supply (CA-017-OC)

There is another E6300 on Dabs that states its OEM and its cheaper, so im guessing the one I linked to is the retail version. Also the motherboard at £93.99 is the model down, the the price for the same board is £108.09.

What exactly is the difference in these two boards? - Is one just better for overclocking?

Thats a very expensive power supply!

Again, cheers for the info!

Sorry, I got those two boards mixed up, the names differ by a letter. The slightly more expensive DS3, designed with overclocking in mind, uses better quality components (like better capacitors) and so is of a generally higher build quality. On paper in terms of raw features, they are almost the same though.

As I'm not really that interested in overclocking, should I stick with the other motherboard then?

Also one last time, looking at that list, im not missing anything off? and the power supply will fit into my current ATX case? Do I need any cabels?

I already have, TFT, DVD-RW, speakers, mouse, keyboard.

Thanks

You should be okay with the cheaper board. The power supply should fit most ATX cases. Gigabyte boards normally come bundled with plenty of extra cables inc. SATA cables if you need them. That should be all you need.

ok thanks to both of you for your help.

I went with the DS3 MOBO in the end, for the price I thought I might want to dabble with overclocking in the future.

At some point I'll add another 1GB of RAM too.
