Those sort of look like what people around here call a "Japanese Beetle" they usually swarm fruit trees and/or flowering stuff.

We actually still have some DDT... don't use it though. :P Any ideas as to where to turn it in for cleanup?

Call me incredibly thick but what is DDT? In Skippy land we don't use bug spray - just our snake skin boots. Anything bigger than a cockroach we use a knife (That's a knife!) or a double barrel shotgun or sometimes a chainsaw when your outta ammo and...oh hang on i'm thinking of playing Doom!

All seriousness i only use Morteen (Dunno if that's the right spelling but its an Aussie invention) and i live in the burbs not the outback and the only bugs we get (Or ive seen) are huntsmans (disgusting black, hairy spiders that love jumping on your face and wrigging in your slippers, slaters, earwigs, ants, termites and the occasional cochroach but no Japeneese beatles (Where's Ringo? Sorry lame joke)

When all else fails i run in the opposite direction!

Bug killing is like a ritual during the summer, I usually spend my nights watching for Moths to kill, they fly about buzzing and annoying then they land on something for a minute... thats when I strike! *smash* one bug down.

One down, 1,999,998,111,000 to go.

This is the time of year when we usually have lots of box elder bugs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box_elder_bug). Back where I used to live, it was tent caterpillars (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tent_Caterpillars). No matter where you live there always seems to be some pesky bug or another.

EDIT: The killing of box elder bugs is quite fun though - squash one; half an hour later squash the crowd that has come to consume their dead comrade; half an hour later, repeat.

I have to confess I too was guility of bug war crimes. I use to to torture, maim and kill innocent ants and other insects with the aid of my evil but way cool magnify glass. I use to watch in glee as my Death Star beam toasted their wriggling, helpless bodies to a delicious crisp! The sweet, sickly scent of burning bug flesh, the charred remains of their bodies and the ever present threat of a Rebel cloud to spoil my fun, oh the memories... :bouncy:

you know that bugs' brains are so small that they cant feel pain like humans can. They feel a leg getting ripped off, but they wont have the emotion to really care.

Keep saying that to yourself, Bug Killer!!!

Humans just canīt care less about bugs, the is just it, if it was a cat or a hamster, we would all go berserk over the SoB that killed it but a bug should be like a cow, should want to die. resistance is futile.:borg:

Actually i got another true bug story which kind of reformed my bug torturing ways. When i was, oh, say ten or so I was living in a house (As one does!) next to a medical clinic. I use to hit a tennis ball against the clinic's wall (There was plenty of room in the carpark to play anything really) and suddenly two large dragonflys whizzed past. Well, i couldnt resist and wacked several balls in the air and smack! I got one of em! My sister came out and started crying, telling me i was a murderer and that dragonflys were magical and related to dragons (She was into fairys and pretty delusional) and tried to resuscitate it by feeding felo pastry (Thin pastry crap) and lo behold the litter critter came to! She continued feeding it while singing nursery rhymes and lullibys, even named it 'wings' and vowed she would take care of it until it got better. Well ten minutes later the thing died, whether from tennis releated injuries or from choking on the crap my sister was craming down its throat and I was made to swear on a pixie's life that i would never harm another dragonfly. Till this day I have kept that promise.

That sounds like the flies I have been getting back in June.

Was using the swatter almost every day!

The flies were everywhere outside the house!

They would be buzzing about and land on me like I'm rotting!
