Project64 1.6 wont install

I currently have Project64 1.5 and I wanted to upgrade because my controller wont work for some reason.

I downloaded the 1.6 and tried to install it and this error pops up

"insert the 'Project64 1.6' disk and click ok."
It has a spot to browse for the file. It's looking the installation for.. Project64 1.6.msi

I can't seem to fix it.
Any ideas?

I'm using winxp pro with service pack 2.

I've re downloaded many times. Directly from their site, from mirrors.. etc. Nothing works for me.

Do you have the latest Microsoft Installer software from Windows Update?

How do I tell? If I go to the windows update site everything works ok. I've installed all the important stuff they say.

There should be an entry in Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs, AFAIK.

What does AFAIK stand for?

Well I think I did at first. You have to go into the uninstall directory and click "remove all Project64 settings", right? Well I did that, and removed plugins and settings then deleted the folder. I then tried to install the new one and it still didnt work. Then I installed 1.5 all over again.

something's wrong with your windows config..
suggest you install it on another PC and copy the install folder to yours.
