I downloaded Project64 a few days ago. I read in the help manual about native saving, but did not understand what to do at all. The state saving hasn't been too reliable for me so I'd like to try native instead. If someone could explain it in very simple terms I'd appreciate it!

Native saving is when the game saves data itself. If you play a game as if it was on an original N64, then the emulator should automatically manage the game's save data so that you can save an load like on the original.
Super Mario 64, for example, prompts you to save after each level. If you choose "Save and Continue" or "Save and Quit" then it will save, so that the next time you start the game, you can load your file from the menu.

native save is just how you would save it if the game was being played on a real n64.
edit, beat me to it.
