2GB RAM worth it for this processor?

I'm thinking of getting a new laptop, a 1.83ghz intel core duo, ati mobility radeon x1400.
Is that sort of processor going to be a cap on performance even with 2GB of RAM?

Core Duo is the best processor available for laptops right now, 1 Gb of Ram will be enought, but more RAM is always welcome. Core 2 Duo processors will come in laptop and desktop presentations, and they will be even better (Core 2 Duo for desktop will surpass AMD64)

Core Duo is a very fast processor and so 2GB would not be overkill for it.
For photoshop or video editing stuff 2Gb will be the minimum. That's why i had 2Gb in my old Celeron-900 machine.

Oh? I've never heard of that. Only Intel's next-gen processor, Conroe or what it was called?
