using ACE archives with PJ64?
Anyone knows how to do it? (I saw a Genesis emulator doing this).
Just think about the greater compression of ACE.
Hi everyone and congratulations for your superb work.

PJ64 supports only zip files, cause they are much more common. As the source is open I suppose support to ace files could be added.

I know ZIP files are more common but I don't mind re-compressing all of my 200Roms if I can store them with a slightly less space.
Anyone knows how to implement this feature on PJ64?

it's not just the size, it's the speed of compression and decompression also.

As always you're ok, i didn't think about that fact (but considering that people are usin P4-AMD XP above 1,2Gz.. it's not too much important).

Actually it is, just think about how long the rom browser would take if it had to unzip all roms 100%! ace files cannot be handled the way pj64 is handling zip files afaik.

yeah ace support could be added fairly easily if someone could be arsed doing it, but wouldnt bz2 compression be better than ace?
or how bout a special compression algo designed specifically for roms - like dzip for q1demos
