Hey there,

I have some legal CHD's for mame that I'm trying to run on my pc, but I'm having some trouble. Everything is installed properly, I'm running an Athlon Sempron 3000+, 1.5GB DDR RAM, GeForce 6600 256MB Video card, and 200GB HD, using MAME 32 for Windows(I'm running Windows 2000 Pro). Still can't seem to get the framerates to show at an adequate, or even playable rate. Does anyone have any advice on how I might be able to configure the settings for the chd games? I tried adjusting both the default settings and specific game settings with no luck.
Also, I have two more questions:
1)Where can I find detailed instructions on setting up Arcade OS on my PC, so that it will boot up, have the arcade controls configured and emulate an arcade cabinet? Can't seem to find anything useful for this online either.
2) Last, can anyone recommend something better than MAME 32 to run these roms in Windows? Is there better software than Arcade OS for converting my PC into a cabinet?(Don't have any controls for this purpose yet, but rather than build I'll probably go with something from SlikStik that I can Plug and Play).

Well, thanx in advance for any help!
God bless!

CHD games are extremely slow in some cases. MAME is emulating a complex hardware that uses lots of 3D geometry + hardware accelerated video chip... MAME tries to emulate everything in software.

Damn right it's slow.

2. If you mean other emulators that are not other MAME builds, then no.

There are only a few games playable that use CHDs - the 2 I can think of quickly being Area 51 and Crypt Killer
