hello again!
I just made a Hi res pack for 1st level "Luigi Raceway".
and one by one I will make for all of them.
and I found most of the textures on Google.
I hope everyone likes them.

Ok here are screenshots.
I made textures for walls, Road, sand, grass, new posters, a new rendered pic of luigi on the big block and baloon(not mine , I found it on google).

only in some areas they look fliped.
I know they need fixing, I tryied but nothing happens, I even used other road textures but they allways looks the same in those areas.

They look weird because one end is brighter than the other. It has to be a uniform brightness.

Ok vanit, I tried again and again all the day, But I couldn't fix it. I was tired of trying to fix it. then I made something else!:flowers:
Please Tell me if you guys like it. and if I should upload it here. it was a bit difficult. and I dont want to fix this one, if its bad because it was hard to position those all 24 files.

I'm a little skeptical to how you pulled together that title screen by yourself. It took me about 8 hours of work to sort out the jigsaw puzzle of the background for Kerb's pack XD.

:) I know these kind of textures are realy very hard to recreate.
this is how I did it:- I am writing it in a little detail, so anyone can try.

collected all 24(25 totally, but I edited only 24) in one folder, created 24 new folders in that folder,named them 1-24. then pasted these pics one by one in photoshop, I solved the puzzle there, then placed the correct files in theis correct folders. calculated width and hight of that puzzle. created new file in photoshop with same width and hight. doubled the size of this file. cropped it into 24 files after editing. doubled the size of all those 24 files, replaced their texture with the new 24 files. thats it!
it was a bit difficult but it was fun.
I will soon replace the background picture with the one "TS_Death_Angel" found! :)

124 pieces and you completed it in 8 hours, your realy fast in this kind of work.
mario kart background pictures contain 120 pieces and I completed half of work in 2 days.:unsure:

ok, I completed the 4th level texture pack.
here is the pic and download, tell me if something needs to be fixed and I will try to fix it, without the road, I know it looks diffrent then sand.
and I am just asking that if anyone wants I can change the color of train.

Awsome! :D I love your texture pack ^^ The only thing I can comment on right now, is the title screen. I would recommend you put the "Press Start Button" in the original colour. Then everything would be perfect! :)

I have put in its corresponding directory the hi-res folders of Mario Kart 64. The emulator loads the images but despues cradled you are going to play does not change to anything the graphical aspect, but other textures of hi-res of other games (as in 64 Mario or Zelda) work without problems. Why it happens this to me? I have been mistaken in the directory?

PD: Sorry, my english is too bad... :whistling

I dont know about your problem correctly, on my computer mario kart folder is named "Mario Kart 64" (I think I am using hacked dump) and textures work properly. on yours it may be "MARIOKART64".
thats what Clements told me.:)

To the folder of the hi-res textures I have called it MARIOKART64. The emulator loads the textures but later in the game any change does not notice. If I call Mario Kart 64 it does not load the textures...

I dont think its possible that the plugin loads textures but nothing changes.
May be your using a diffrent kind of rom ( or another version)

I thought about that, but because of my connection speed I cannot upload more then 2 MB, and if I try to upload more then that my connection disconnects.:(


edit:- here is a update that you all realy need if you downloaded (Frappe snowland texture Pack)
it will change the wall texture of (Frappe snowland) and (Sherbet Land). this is because I didn't knew that they use same textures for walls!

and a new start line Mario Kart logo!

All roms that i have are "MARIOKART64" ID, so the pack dont works, because your version is "Mario Kart 64" ID

The rom must be the same, or it dont load all textures, only the same textures names in both roms

Ambar - you keep getting better and better at this...and you started off pretty damn good! Everything is an improvement...the wario stadium crowd effect looks pacrticularly great. I can't wait until you do rainbow road!

Please for the love of god use mine...yours are nice, but I hate to see mine go to waste seeing as I never could them to line up properly. Dig em up at my old thread, and download the psd...if I was smart enough to upload em'. All of the faces are completed...and just need some alignment tinkering.

Hey, very nice work! Didn't think that Mario Kart 64 could be so awesome!
But my problem: I can't use the textures. I have Project64 1.6 and the Rice Plugin. All plugins work, i can emulate Mario Kart 64 with other HiRes-Textures, but your textures don't work! Sh*t, these are the best textures i've ever seen! I think my version of Mario Kart 64 rom is another than yours, because the emu loads a few textures but not all, although i installed the pack like described in this thread.

Can you give me a link to download the full pack of you with your version of Mario Kart rom? thx... :(

Yeah, at least all that I saw so far. I also installed the Item Icons from http://www.emutalk.net/showthread.php?t=36383 and it all works fine.

Edit: The background behind the results when finishing a race is white instead of black.

I just made some in-game character icons. I have no idea how to include them in the pack. Use them if you like them.

Edit: Ok, after all I found out how to do it. This is what I came up with.

I think I am going to redo the in-game interface. I still have to do the numbers for places five to eight (are shown after finishing a race), maybe the maps and the speed indicator (not pictured here) and the big numbers on the bottom left. And i'll have to tweak the alpha pictures a bit, those black borders don't look that good.

Is anybody currently planning to work on the karts themselves? If not, maybe I would give it a go. Rebuilding them in a 3d modeler should not be too difficult and then all one had to do is take renders, alpha channel automatically included.

Thoughts?

Yes, because of this I uploaded the logo in a separate archive. This was just a matter of personal taste. Use whatever you want, include whatever you want. I will never release the complete pack.

The textures are great, but i have a problem with rice video 6.1.1 beta 10. In some tracks it flickers badly with numerous polygons, sometimes it's just like the pics below. Is there anything i can do to solve this problem?

First I just want to say I love this add on pack. You've done an awesome job and really have put new life in MK. It's really opened my eyes to high res add ons.

The only trouble is Rice's 6.1.1 beta 10 sounds a little scratchy, especially with Wave Racer (I'm also using the high res add on pack with it too) so I'm using 6.1.0 which I don't have any problem (though its not perfect) with. Funny thing is 6.1.0 doesn't load all the textures, you see I added that extra add on pack of character icons and although 6.1.1 beta 10 loads all of it perfectly 6.1.0 doesn't. Why does 6.1.0 discriminate?

Also, the course Choco Mountain has all these white specks running through the ground. Is this a known bug?

this is a very bad problem, you know how it feels, when u can't play with your own textures!
I wish I had time to make new textures for MK, but now I have a Job, so I am busy on all days!

Yeah, it looks amazing.

BTW, is there anything you can do about the sprites? When they're close up, they look kind of crappy due to the aliasing.

That bowser looks cool. Btw, i got your pack, it works and everything but start menu text is half rendered. i went into the configure graphics but couldn't find alt texture size.

Those icons are all real nice. But try fixing Toad's head a little in his icon. Ex. make his head darker around the edges, if you can.

please try to use glide64 or muds/rice 1.6.4 as your dumping plug
i am trying to go glide64 only but rice still works

i just don't want any more issues with compatibility

this pack is hi quality lets try to keep it this way

This is awesome! I LOVE the icons, NES_player4LIFE. You've got a great knack for bringing out the character's personality instead of just having it be a small picture of them. Great work :)

I think one of the bigger things that stood out after I tried out the pack was the text. Since a lot of Mario Kart is based on times, I think it would be good to get that worked on next, if possible. Please keep working on this :D

EDIT: Is there a link combining all of the various pieces that you guys released into one pack?

I installed the Project64

Copied the RiceVideo plugin into the Folder Plugin.

When i start P64 i cannot go settings and select RiceVideo Plugin. always get some Errors :(

Also : Where do i have to put the High Resources Files to ?

btw : Where is an howto ??

as far as the errors in your first post these textures were never lined right by amber. i think they are the wrong size.

this is the only mirror mode screen that i know of.

as far as the race course name ribbons (cards) not yet, however i'm working on some now.

i do not have Amber's artistic experience with words or numbers. so like always it will take some time for me to complete.

you may wish to look for kerbs mario kart 64 pack and see if he has mirror mode screen redone.
