You're using MSpaint....

No offense but I'm just not sure you have the skill to get what you plan on making.

but yeah, no one uses paint in these mods, not even 1% of it, you need to blend the textures in, you can't use, for example, black over white without blending/anti-aliasing it, otherwise it'll look like it was made.... well... made in paint.

Don't ask us, figure it out yourself. If we tell you how to do everything, it doesn't really become your texture pack anymore.

Uhg... I was talking about how to directly make something in Photoshop. That way you don't learn something and you're not the one making the texture pack.

okay dude, I wouldn't recommend trying to make your own. Maybe if you take the original textures and mess with them. Or take other people's textures and experiment on them in photoshop or something. But I don't think that you're quite prepared to do your own project yet. Unless this is supposed to look like Daniel McGregor from the 3rd grade's version of zelda. Then you're fine.

Rofl... this is worse than the first XD! Congradulations, you've made Link an epileptic retard!

Maybe textures aren't you're thing...

...at all.

Maybe you should learn to draw before you make your own textures. Take a look at real world things and then try replicate them in photoshop. And NEVER... EVER... EVER... EVER draw free hand unless you're applying effects (and ofcourse there are other circumstances as well that calls for it).

We appreciate that you've put some effort in. But seriously, I think this is the worst pack I've ever seen on the forums and what really concerns me is that you didn't think it was bad.

But hey, thanks for the good laugh.

Phalanx: He could manage the files fine, its the fact he can't draw for, and excuse the blatant language, shit. I try to help out with peoples packs where I can but people should have atleast some artistic skill in this field. We aren't responsible for teaching people that here.

Maybe he's using a mouse to draw with. Anyone who wants to do this MUST have a graphics tablet and a photo editing program. M$ paint is useless. A little talent helps too.

I have never used a graphics tablet in my life. I would like to have one, but I have never needed one. I have been Photoshopping for about 5 years, and I think it's safe to say I'm and expert (PM if you want to see some work). Point being, you don't *have* to have a tablet. Photoshop, yes.

Epileptic Retard is an adverb-noun. Meaning that I was saying looked like a retard who was also epileptic. I didn't design the insult to imply there is anything wrong with epileptic people... (which there's not). It was only to say that Link had a munted face and blinked really strangely.

So now your saying that epileptics are/look retarded? I also have epileptic syndroms sometimes but that dont mean i am a retard.

I want to apologise to everyone, especially Vanit for overreacting like that, iīve had a really tough time lately (for 9 years, as a matter of fact) which dosnīt seem to end, so iīm really just having one of my bad days. Anyway, iīm really sorry for being so harsh on you Vanit, so i hope youīll forgive me. Anyway, i see that Nintendo3000 stopped the project, but i think that if he keeps working on it, he will get somewhere. And to insult him isnīt going to make him better.

Nintendo3000 don't stop I use MS paint alot for my textures and Microsoft Photo Editor and HARDLY ever PhotoShop keep working on it and you'll get better. Also people by bashing his work do you think that make him feel any good? Just tell him what to fix up.

I agree with Djipi. I have never seen wreckless disregard for a person's feelings as I have in this thread. He's trying hard and wants to contribute to the scene. It's also his very first try at doing textures. It's very difficult to learn without feedback and I think this would be a perfect place for him to get feedback. But not one person gave any constructive criticism. Only comments ridiculing his work and telling him he has no talent! Who the hell tells a person they have no talent?! That is truly horrible. Nintendo3000, I sincerely want you to reconsider and continue with this project. It's the best way for you to learn how to become better at it. And if you can make things look good using MSPaint, then you've got some serious talent. Keep it up boss.

Vanit
February 3rd, 2006, 07:07
Okay, I'll start my comments anew in a more friendly nature and will share some of my overall philosophy on retexture projects. I've always thought to myself that simply raising the resolution is a bit pointless and that its time better spent redefining the style or, as in my case, changing the language. There is a purpose, to change the feel of the game rather than reducing jaggies (which is boring and nerdish :P).

Anyways there are some things I honestly like about this project and some things I think, like all beginners, you need to work on. As others have said, there is a childish-cartoon like style coming through which looks really good in areas, but you need to work on the execution a little bit. As I stated previously, your animation for Link's eyes and mouth isn't very fluid and infact changes style through each frame, giving an erratic look which I referred to as resembling a certain disorder :). Your skills in animation are definitely a weak point and with practice, as you are doing now, it will improve. Also you should consider the purpose of changing the style. Some might not understand what I mean, but for example I don't see why you would change the buttons to stars other than because you could. If you were to go to my website (http://vanitstudios.burn.at) and went to the hacks section you would find an old oot hack of mine I was working on a few years back by proper graphics hacking. It was a really crap idea about making it talk about monkeys instead of the real plot and I only did it because I could and others couldn't. For similar reasons a lot of young people make websites because they can, but don't have any content aside from maybe a poorly designed fansite (I think all of us have been there, as was a previous incarnation of my website). The point of all this being try to put some thought into the textures you change and don't just change them to another symbol because you might think a full retexture pack would require you to replace image, but thats not true.

Anyways thats all I want to say for now and I wish you good luck on the pack :).
