That computer should run practically all supported games at a full framerate. Athlons, AFAIK, don't have any compatibility issues with PJ64. In fact they may run it better than comparable Intels (P4 etc.)

However, PJ may have problems with WinXP... of course I don't have it so I don't really know. I haven't seen many XP-only problems here so chances are pretty good it will run fine.

Oh really?

When I changed this P4 from a TNT2 M64 PCI to a GF3 TI200 AGP (yes, I had a PCI gfx card in a P4... :blush: ) I noticed no difference in speed for emulators. But a couple of other games, mainly mechwarrior 4, ran at ~20 fps faster.

@haku

No really, you should have a full framerate in everything all the time with that setup. An Athlon XP @1900 is ~ as fast as a P4 @2.2-2.4 GHz is. And I do pretty well with a P4 @ 1.4...

i wasnt talking about emulation in general an athlon xp 1900 using a geforce 2 mx ddr will run most emulators fine but and i stress this to haku you might as well have an athlon 1ghz with that gpu

I used to have a TNT M64 PCI graphics card about a year ago when i was really into emulation the performance was crap, its strange cuz when i changed my card to a geforce 2 pro i saw much difference

p4s suck, Intel removed almost all yhe good stuff to get alot of Ghz. only ghz don't make a good cpu.
and they're expensive.

ppl explained this in a 24page html file, but i cant remember the url :(

Yah I know, but my deal on the P4 was cheaper than all the Athlons out there. :D Forget what website i got it from but... it was funny. Now if the L1 cache was more the 8K... I remember reading that article too.

btw, athlon xp 1600, not even overclocked rapes p4's at 2.2ghz, athlon xp 1900 not even overclocked kills whatever pentium has in the mainstream market, THEN you over clock either of those ones and prepared to keep that shit in a freezer;) not literally but u guys know

where do you get your facts that a athlon xp 1600 outperforms a p4 2.2 with a northwood core. you better check again. goto www.tomshardware.com it has a bunch of benchmarks there
