I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this but it is Project64 related. If it isnt in the right forum could you move this to the correct forum please.
I have figured out how to achieve full sound in Resident Evil 2 with no speech glitches using Azimer's project64 audio fix edition :bouncy:
http://www.emutalk.net/apollo/15514-hydrothunder-audio.html
It is pretty complicated for those who don't understand advanced Counter Factor settings and such. I used these plugins while testing this.
Video: Glide64 Wonder Plus
Sound: Azimer's HLE Audio v0.55.1 Alpha
Controller: N-Rage's Direct-Input8 v2 1.83
Reality Signal Processor (RSP): None
1. What you do is start the rom then quit instantly but don't exit the emulator. (when you start the rom go to File---> End Emulation)
2. go to options--->settings...--->click the tab for Rom Settings
3. Make sure CPU Core Style is set to Recomplier
Self-Modifying Code Method: Protect Memory
Memory Size: Default
Advanced Block Linking: Off
Default Save Type: Use First Used Save Type
"Counter Factor" (Most Important): 3
Don't check any of the check boxes below
Then hit Ok and start the rom. Let it run until it gets to the first movie and starts producing sound. Then end the emulation but don't close the emulator again. Then go back to the Rom Settings page same as described above and switch the Counter Factor to 1
One last thing. On the Glide64 graphics plugin I recommend playing on 512x384 because these settings really drain Processor Speed even for the higher end PC's. I tried 640x480 and it even slowed down on that. Don't forget to turn on Depth Buffer Render on the Glide64 plugin to fix some glitches in the game.
My PC Specs: AMD Athlon 64bit 3200+, 2GIG DDR400 RAM 4x512 Sticks, SATA HD 200GB, Geforce 6600 GT 128MB.
I have tested this hypothesis on 2 of my PC's in my home and they both passed my test.
NOTE: I only tested this on the (U) version of Resident Evil 2. I don't know if it will work on Biohazard 2 (J) but its worth a shot. I've tested both PC's about 8 times... I think thats enough to say this might work. If you save a game and go to replay it you will have to repeat this step to get full sound again.
This is another way until someone produces the right sound plugin for this game. I'm gonna make a video on this and post it on my website for all to see... Give me about 2 Hours.

If anyone has any questions please reply to this topic and i'll post when I can.
EDIT: Please go to the third page for an update, and a video showing proof that this works.

I didnt get this to work :( as soon as Glide switches to fullscreen, PJ64 crashes. This is not a Glide64 WP Problem though, as Glide64 WP works fine with PJ64 1.6 and Azimer's Audio HLE Audio Version: 0.56 WIP2 and N-Rage N64 DInput8 Version: 1.83. Using your settings, setting counter factor first to 3 and then to 1 after first FMV and disableing the first option of Azimer's Audio HLE Audio Version: 0.56 WIP2 (Dynamic Audio Sync) i seem to get 90% working speech though. Only sometimes the speech turns to garbage (rarely) but when i pause and resume it's fixed.
I wonder which Glide Wrapper did you use? Or do you have a Voodoo2 or other 3dfx addon card? I use Zeckensack 0.84c its the only one that works with my ATI 9800Pro. BTW I could use 800x600 fine with my somewhat aged Sys and always ran at 30fps, prolly could even use more but since i play over TV-out its useless to use more.
My Specs: P4 Northwood 2.66 (no HT) FSB 533, ATI 9800, 512 MB DDR . I tried Eu and US Versions of RE2.
Any Ideas why PJ 1.4 crashes to desktop with Glide WP? I tried normal 1.4 and Audio Fixed 1.4 and tried all popular Sound and Input Plugins but it wont work.
EDIT: BTW i have tried disableing TV-out with no positive effect.

I had that same problem too. what i had to do to fix it is go into my C:\WINDOWS folder and look for glide2x.dll and glide3x.dll in that folder and in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM folder. I would delete them then reinstall zeckensacks glide wrapper then it would work fine.

PS: I have a Geforce 6800 with all 16 pipelines open.

Can someone help me? How do you install Glide64... there's a few folders with different stuff in them (e.g. Hacktaru's glide3x wrapper) and I don't know what folders the contents go into. One of them talks about a 1964 folder???? The Glide readme is'nt very helpful either.
Thanks

when glide64 is packaged it has 4 folders. all you need is what is in the plugin folder. extract and put it in ur pj64 folder. Then if you need a glide wrapper (this means if you don't have a voodoo glide based video card) then i recommend getting zeckensacks glide wrapper. Google it its simple to find.

Riddick I dont have any other Glide dlls than zeckensacks 0.84c on my system. Glide64 works fine with any other game than RE2 in PJ64 1.6. I supect a compatibility issue with my system and the Audiofixed PJ64 1.4. Because it appears the Audiofixed 1.4 always crashes when going to fullscreen, not just with RE2. Do you use zeckensack 0.84c, or an older one? Also what sound hardware do you use? I am suspecting my 5.1 system is incompatible with the Audiofix, i tried setting it to Stereo mode but its still crashing.

i am using zeckensacks 0.84c plugin and im also using an integrated realktek RC97 sound card with 7.1 surround sound. Works fine here.

Could you give me all options you use in every option dialog please? Especially Graphic, Audio and RSP settings. You use the Audiofix 1.4 EXE ? Do you check both options in the RSP options (Or have you removed rsp.dll? You Say RSP: None)? If i check "Send Audio Lists to Audio Plugin" i get no sound at all..... Strange?
Riddick

under the Options tab (this is after I have loaded the Rom once) the first 5 check boxes, all are checked except the last one.
CPU Core Style: Recomplier
Self-mod Code Method: Check Memory and Cache
Default Memory Size: 8 MB
Advanced Block Linking: On
Under RSP Plugin
Send Audio Lists to Audio Plugin: No check in box
Send Display Lists to Graphics Plugin: Check in Box
CPU Core Style: Recomplier
Under Graphics Plugin (Glide64 Wonder)
Autodetect Microcode: Checked
Force Microcode: Don't mess with that!
The columns on the right (Special Fixes) and (Frame Buffer Emulation) nothing in those 2 boxes should be checked!
Resolution: Depends on your PC Specs: I got a Geforce 6800 with 16 pipelines open. AMD Athlon 64bit 3200+ processor and 1 GB DDR400 RAM. I can only play on 640x480 with no slowdown. SO if urs is better then try higher. :bouncy:
Wireframe you don't have to mess with that.
some should be greyed out. There fine the way they are.
LOD Calculation: Fast
Vertical Sync: For good speed I recommend No.
Fast Texture Checksum Calculation: Check in box
on the right Depth Buffer Emulation make sure both are checked. one may be grayed out. thats fine.
the next tab at the top (on screen info) I say go in there and uncheck everything so nothings in the way of your game
Thats my settings. If it doesn't work then come back and tell me the error message your getting.

I put the "Plugin" contents into the Project64 plugins folder but when I go into the PJ64 settings an error occurs:
"The application has failed to start because glide3x.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." and then when you click 'ok':
"Failed to load plugin:
C:\Program Files\Project64 1.6\plugin\Glide64.dll"
Seems to only be Glide64 that won't load because I have a few others installed that load fine. Also, do I put sound wrappers in the plugin folder too?
Thanks Riddick

Glide3x.dll needs to go in Windows\System32 or in the PJ64 folder (íf not that, then the plugins folder).

Does'nt work in either...same error message. Ah well. Can anyone recommend any other Graphics plugin that work as well as glide?

Riddick:
Used all your settings but PJ64 1.4 Audiofix still exits to desktop when trying to go fullscreen. Its not a Glide64 problem, countless other games work fine when using Glide64 in PJ64 1.6. It seems to be a problem between Glide64 and PJ 1.4 (both Audiofix and normal exe) they always crash when trying to go fullscreen with Glide64, it does not crash with Jabo's plugin. PJ64 1.6 works fine with Glide64 though, so the Glide wrapper must be properly working, also i can play PC games with Glide support just fine. I'm really clueless whats going on here. The ROM is fine it works fine with PJ64 1.6, just no speech....GRRRRRRRRRRR
griffin: Install Zeckensack's Glide wrapper 0.84c. Google knows where to dl it.

axcc123:
I use the same plugins (except i use zeckensack Glide wrapper) and I have exactly the same gfx card, i get tons of screen flickering, especially in the scenes with fire, ie ClaireA Beginning and the helicopter scenes, but also in other scenes. Additionally in some rooms about 25% of the background is missing on the right side of the screen, as if it was cut off, only the objects and characters show up in that section of the screen. Sound has a slight echo but is acceptable. Which version of PJ64's rsp.dll do you use?
Which Radeon drivers do you use?
When i try to use Hack's glide wrapper instead zeckensacks, i get 0.2 FPS in RE2 while other games still run fine. Zeckensack gives 30fps+ with RE2 or any other game, any idea what might be wrong?

I'm using PJ64's RSP.dll and cat drivers 6.1 which is the lastest drivers so far.

Feel free to listen to my 1 song and look at my 1 video but those wouldn't really interest you anyway.

Dont be quick to judge! Riddick your guide helped me get the sound working great! Thanks a lot! I just have one question though. Do I need to revert back to my old PJ64 settings when I play something other than RE2 or can I just leave them as is?
