If you're trying to use an original game (and not a CD-R backup) it won't work. No PC CD/DVD drive can read an original DC game.

Im having same problems with Shenmue 2, seems we are theo nly ones as no1 else knows what were talking about.

(edit) was just browsing through the ISO and found echelon in there, i ve read the echelon version wont work, guess thats why we get the CD Player.

Too bad there was nothing said about echelon when i found it...

There's a way to remove the Echelon intro, but it's very complicated, at least to the average user.

does it involve hex editors? or just deleting folders n such?

I found a diff cd1 seperate from the other 3 disc's and it works. (non echelon)
but out of curiosity it would be cool to know how to get rid of that as it seems no echelon .cdi will run with chankast.
