FPS slow down...

Greetings,

I've been playing Destiny of an Emperor for a while now, almost finished, and durring all this time the FPS int he bottom right of the Jnes window would show a hair above 60 FPS. Now all of a sudden it has slowed down to about 33.xx FPS. This makes the game, and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, really slow and quite annoying.

Is there someway to increse the FPS to make the games more .... normal?

EDIT TO ADD:

Using Jnes 0.6
Windowed is Hardware Stretch ( havn't changed any settings )

System:
WinXP
Celeron 1.2 GHz
512 RAM
SiS 630 8MB

it's obviously not normal to have a sudden problem with the frame rate, the easiest way to diagnose this is

1) does it happen at 2x Zoom ? 1x Zoom ?
2) does it happen if you turn sound OFF ?

the video sounds a little old, but i havent had any experience with that particular integrated chipset

Turned the sound off and the FPS increased to about 34.xx. I changed the video setting, Drawing Method, to Software Stretch and it seems to be fixed.

Before I changed the Drawing Method, I made the resolution 256x224 and it worked great. The normal resolution I use is 512x448.

Since it seems fixed I'll just stick with these settings.

Anymore questions you have that may help if this problem shows up in the future?

Not that I can think of, it's just another case of older hardware that doesnt like the way i do stretching.
