I've checked the FAQ and the user manuals and tried both OpenGL and D3D drivers for PJ64 - and updated to DirectX8.1 I've also searched this forum and the net in general before posting here as a last resort. (I've also checked the RDB)
I know this is probably an old issue, but I can't find the solution anywhere.
But... I'm still getting odd looking text in Mario64 in all modes I have tried. Is this just me or have other people got the same problem?
The game runs great apart from the options screen, and the popup text boxes are completely unreadable.
Running: P3 -733Mhz / GeForce 2 GTS 64Mb on Win98SE
PJ64 Ver 1.4 / Jabo's Direct3D7 1.40
I'm running out of ideas - can any one help? (Screenshot attached)

A couple of words, use the american version instead. This is a known problem with the Super Mario 64 (e) [!] rom, do yourself a favor and aquire the american version, Super Mario 64 (u) [!], and this problem, unreadable text, will no longer occur. But since the story line in Super Mario 64 is limited, read boring, you are not missing anything.

I did think it might have been the rom, but with only a 56k connection I was a bit loathe to d/l another one :)
But I did, and it works, and thanks for your help. I knew I was doing something wrong - cheers.

No problem, and as time progresses information like this is hopefully compiled into a complete FAQ or similar.

Don't mean to pour salt on a wound:p but I looked at the rdb too and it clearly states for the PAL version: (/text? use NTSC).:hrm:
:D

yes this was given, only in the original RDB it was mistakenly attributed to the core, when it's actually the video plugin.

only the rom I downloaded was badged as the US one which confused me thoroughly, I'll know better to check the RDB more clearly in future.
I got more help than I was expecting at least :)
thanks again, and sorry if I wasted anyones time.
