(that stands for Rom DataBase Work In Progress).
OK some of you may remember this from years ago but i'll run through it again:
How this works:
I post an RDB.
We ask you to play games! All games, but paying particular attention to those listed below, because they've recently had settings changed.
We listen to feedback, make more changes, I post another RDB.
We all test some more...
etc.
When we're happy it gets released as an official update :)
(although already it's likely to be much more accurate than the one included in v1.6, so we'd recommend the beta now for all users!)
Who should give feedback please:
Only people with some PJ64 experience should really participate in this (we don't want issues relating to bad ROMs, your system, other plugins or anything else that's distracting). thanks in advance, i try to credit fixes to the finder!
Please make sure you are using the latest version of these files before you post! Some people are reporting errors that were fixed long ago. Thanks
How to test:
Use only Project64 v1.6, Jabo D3D8 1.6, Dsound 1.6, Dinput 1.6, included 1.6 RSP.
default settings.
If an option in the emulator config fixes something, it's not considered an issue. However, if this instruction isn't in the GameFAQ, please report so we can add it!
See where the browser info and your experience don't match.
Post in this thread with as much detail as possible please.
Screenshots and states may be useful.
Make sure you can recreate the issue please.

*I think the average PC is now fast enough to turn this off in the RDB.
(i've known for a long time that ABL Off was smoother in the Zeldas, but loses perhaps 20% speed).
If your machine is not fast enough to maintain 60Vi/s, probably a good idea to turn it back on.
Some chance this affects stability, as not as many people have been playing them with ABL Off.

(1.6 release)

//EOF
RDB will now be posted to main site here (http://www.pj64.net/main/download/func,select/id,7/).
Rename Project64.rdb in your v1.6 install folder (to e.g. Project64-v16release.rdb), then extract this one to that folder, overwriting the GameFAQ. You can then, if you need to, compare between the original rdb and the new one by swapping the files around. If you get confused, see Help > About INI files to check which version you're using!
Settings will always be applied but refresh the ROM Browser (shortcut F5 or File menu) after changing RDB to see changes to Status and Notes.
Please note the new GameFAQ will open to an error page (not found) in PJ64 1.6 - this is a fault with the app, sorry, it's cosmetic only. don't report please.

The self-modifying code for Zelda OoT should be set to Change Memory and Cache. I tried digging up the thread where it was discussed most recently (after the release of 1.6), but it seems to have vanished into the ether.
There's a crash when exiting the Lost Woods, but only when you first walk through the left doorway (where the chap is playing the pipe) and then backtrack to the exit. It's an oddball occurance, and many will never see it, but it's there nonetheless. :)

thanks Allnatural, we need to discuss this
it was originally on Check Memory & Cache, then when Check Mem Advance got implemented Zil told me to put Zelda OoT on it (iirc).
are you sure the rest of Zelda OoT is stable on Change Memory & Cache?
that's very significant if it is :)

are you sure the rest of Zelda OoT is stable on Change Memory & Cache?
heh, no. I think I may have played through the Deku Tree dungeon without problems, but beyond that is anyone's guess.
I think enough people have reported the crash though to at least warrant a note in the GameFAQ. :)

aha, this is a good time to say, if you're going to do a post like that, which is good, please attach a pic of what you see, and ideally a pic of what you should see (googling the game often works).
I see it's using pixel shaders 1.1+ on the cape.. which you don't have on a GF2MX.. so it's hardware issue sorry.
you can't select d3d device any more in d3d8 plug, i need to find out if there;s an easy way to get reference rasterize going now so people can confirm themselves if issue is system related.

That's not done for better performance, its done to remove the flicker from the (U) rom and it pretty much does for me, as for (E) I never tested it. I think I changed CF because the game was running at an incorrect speed (too fast).
Quest 64 (U) / Holy Magic Century (E) still has problems with both of Jabo's video plugins (the main character's cape has wrong color). Tested with a GeForce 2 MX (don't know about other cards).I'd suggest you buy a cheap radeon 9200 (it has pixel shader support) because that Geforce 2mx will always be a bottle neck for your system.

For Quest 64, Forcing Alpha blending gets rid of the Pink around the text and other stuff to make it look like it should, but the characters' heads and other stuff become transparent with the option enabled. No setting appears to fix this issue.
Misc RDB issues:
-Doom 64 (all regions) says (see GameFAQ) but there is no entry.
-F-ZERO X is misnamed (according to GoodN64 2.02a it's all caps now)
-Hey you, Pikachu (all variants) ought to say [input] (see GameFAQ) since the entry is there explaining the issue.
-Kirby 64, health bar is a core issue AFAIK, works in Mupen64, so should have that as a core note, not a video note.
-Mario Story (J) entry should be in line with Paper Mario i.e. [video] (see GameFAQ)
-Mischief Makers (all regions) says "(see GameFAQ" without a close of the bracket.
-Nightmare Creatures (U) should probably have a (see GameFAQ) as the core note, or at least have it added.
-Ogre Battle 64 should have a "(see GameFAQ)" for video since there is an entry.
-War Gods should have a "(see GameFAQ)" for core.
-Wipeout 64 should have a "(see GameFAQ)" for video since there is an entry.
Misc GameFAQ issues:
Hey you, Pikachu! > Hey you, Pikachu! / Pikachu Genki Dechu
Paper Mario > Paper Mario / Mario Story
Super Mario 64 is not in alphabetical order.

Thats all for now.
heh, no. I think I may have played through the Deku Tree dungeon without problems, but beyond that is anyone's guess.

Allnatural, i remember you when i did my first posts here some years ago:)
and i remember your advice about Zelda OoT + Change Memory & Cache :)

i recommend the Self -mod. code method in "Change Memory & Cache"

Mario tennis - use jabos 1.52 for better performance

mystical ninja starring goemon - use Rices 6.1.1 for fullspeed
Re-Volt - freezes a lot even with cf3. runs better with Rices 6.1.1
Scars - audio sync stops game
San Francisco rush - need to use "set direct3D Clear Mode" to "ONLY PER FRAME" in the car select screen. turn off once in game.
San Francisco rush 2049 - audio sync stops game
star wars episode I racer - has minor grafx glitches during gameplay
Tetris 64 - for this rom, i CANNOT get it to work no matter what. i have tried like 20 different ones that i have downloaded. and with every one i get the same error which is, "in a permanent loop that cannot be exited. emulation will now stop. verify rom and rom settings." the rom works fine in 1964 though. i have no idea whats wrong.
tetrisphere - has minor glitches, very playable. also sounds sometimes makes horrible loud screeching noise while it loads the level.
top gear rally 2 - audio sync stops game
tsumi to batsu (sin and punishment) - use Rices 5.6.0 with basic frame buffer and basic render to texture(for proper blur effects). use schibos audio plugin for best sound??

banjo kazooie - need to use legacy pipeline to display parts correctly(intro has black parts everywhere, some parts ingame are too bright, how has nobody else noticed this?)Looks fine here. I don't remember it being any brighter on my N64. The black bits in the intro are causes by framebuffer effects. Enable 'Copy framebuffer to RDRAM' and they'll be fine, but it'll be a lot slower. My system (AMD Athlon XP 2100+, ATI Radeon 8500LE) gets a full 60FPS with framebuffer effects on, but only about 45FPS with them on.
banjo tooie - also needs legacy pipeline to display parts correctly(banjos shadow, his colors are too bright, etc.)Also seems fine for me. Default settings get me a shadow, legacy pipeline makes no difference. Tryed updating your video card drivers recently?

Guess I should mention that some games that had various slowdowns in the previous version are fine now using Jabo's D3D8 video plugin. The list of these games includes: Lylat Wars/Star Fox 64, Cruis'n USA and Mischief Makers (and probably others too).
Be aware that the slowdowns still occur when using Jabo's D3D6 video plugin.

i've picked through some of Nekokabu's and added some things we could verify, mainly japanese games where he is clearly right and we didn't try very hard :p I don't change things for the sake of changing them, we have to be pretty sure it's an improvement.
all the changes are in the log in the first post. it's good that both of us have detailed logs so you can check through yourself if you want...
about the Good Names - we use the current available version of GoodN64 (2.02a), with the exception of the multilanguage tags (Mn), some of which are in ahead of the next version, someone in the team has contacts with Cowering. so there shouldn't be too many suprises, for example, i *haven't* changed Legend of Zelda to The Legend of Zelda or anything like that - people should find the rdb matches up with their set quite well!

Some RDB errors (on the notes for the default plugins):
"Cruis'n USA [video] slow in places" <-- It isn't slow with the D3D8 video plugin.
"Shadowgate 64 [video] slow" <-- It isn't slow with the D3D8 video plugin. In fact it may seem slow during gameplay but it's the game's normal speed. It has some very minor slowdowns in the begining of the "movies" and when you turn the first page of a book.
"Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars [video] (see GameFAQ)" <-- The GameFAQ entry does not report any "problems" for this game (actually the problems were fixed in v1.6).
The lack of Pixel shaders on some video cards results in various problems on some games (Quest 64, Zelda, etc.). Also, some games are slow with the D3D6 video plugin but fast with the D3D8 video plugin. Maybe a note about these should be added in the "Common Questions & Answers" section. What do you think smiff?
Smiff
May 15th, 2005, 23:43
well, of course it depends on your system! when i say "slow", i often mean the video plugin uses abnormally high amounts of CPU, so the emulator as a whole *could* slow down - i'd rather be safe and say something might be a problem, so people like you have a good surprise (probably you dont 'see the slowdown' because the counter stays above 60fps), than say it's all ok (or not say anything) and have other people complain.. of course if there really is no issue the comment should go, i will check those again.
it's a good point though, i will think about clarifying this somehow, without getting too wordy..

and Quotation from GameFAQ(Hey You, Pikachu!, Pokemon Stadium etc):
The only way to get voice support in this game is to use real N64 hardware accessories (a genuine N64 microphone and a genuine N64 controller) on a genuine Adaptoid using the Adaptoid input plugin provided. Note that this will theoretically work, but has not been tested.
I think that it is not true.
adaptoid support Mempack and RumblePack *ONLY*.

I use the expansion pack too for this game. That's because if you're using Jabo's D3D6 video plugin and set the memory to 4MB there will be some framebuffer related issues on some menus; if you set the memory to 8MB and make the game use the expansion pack then the errors are gone. Weird...
PS: This works only with Legacy of Darkness (the original Castlevania does not support the expansion pack).

right ok, Castlevania2 is going onto 8MB - res detection actually seems to work in both reses, and on both regions.
edit: btw, this demonstrates nicely why you don't mess with things without much care: now gent has to redo all the cheats to work with the exp pak on. being such a nice guy he's agreed to do it but the changeover could cause problems.
edit2: for anyone following this wondering "wtf, of COURSE i want the exp. pak if the game support it!", no that's not obviously right because (a) the graphics are HLEd and if the game *only* raises the resolution, there is zero benefit from using the extra 4MB, you just raise state sizes hence waste space and possibly slow emulation, (b) it often complicates plugin res detection, because now users can choose two different resolutions when they start the game, there's more to go wrong. hope this explains things!

Unsupported would be better i think so because Need Video plugin with a ? is not accurate as the ucode is not suported for sure: Factor 5 have developed their own gfx engine (in fact for each games they had developed they had created a gfx engine : those guys was the best (and the more crazy) programmers on the N64 !!!)

I'm new here and all so i can't know everything that was already mentioned here...
DK64 U crashes after the dolby surround logo, but i think this is only my problem... In DK64 J the song and the subtitles were not synced good...
And the main problem i know is with particles. They are often drawn after the polygons or sometching, i mean they can bee seen through the walls. I remember that bug in EWJ3d, rayman 2 and Disney's Donald Duck... And also about the problem of rayman 2 called "lum colour". I guess that most particles are not drawn properly, they keep only their shape but have the colour of the fog (if there's no fog at the moment, they're drawn nicely). This problem is in Rayman 2 and Donald duck at least (may be in more games) so i guess it should be fixed somehow (if it can be fixed of course). Thanks :alien2:

Just to clarify some things... I don't have access to "slow" CPUs these days (only my laptop that can be underclocked) so I cannot perform accurate tests that have to do with the CPU requirements of the emulator. This means that my previous reports had to do with the video plugins and the way they act.
In particular when I was reffering to Cruis'n USA (which indeed needs a quite fast CPU to run fullspeed) I meant that it had slowdowns even with a fast CPU when using the D3D6 video plugin (the VIs dropped to 30-40 most of the time) but it didn't when using the D3D8 video plugin (constant 60 VIs).
About Shadowgate... After some more tests it seems that the "movies" eat a lot of CPU power and RAM. When running the game after running other applications major slowdowns may occur during these "movies" (probably due to heavy page file usage since the HD activity is constant). Better to bypass these movies when your CPU is not fast enough or you don't have at least 512MBs of RAM.
The particular tests were made on my laptop (Specs: 1.73GHz Pentium M CPU, ATI X600 video card, 512MB RAM). The previous tests were made on my Desktop (see my sig for its specs).
I appologize for any previous inaccurate info Smiff...

Nope. This happens later on in the game as well. The status bar comes and goes quite often during gameplay. This is a core problem since the plugins show it perfect on Mupen64. From my testing no core setting helps so that it is why it is keeping its status.

#1: Jabo's D3D6 1.5.2 /Jabo's D3D8 1.6 with Use Legacy Pixel Pipeline enabled (textures work fine, exactly like real N64)
#2: Jabo's D3D8 1.6 (textures darker, less detailed, more obvious that is repeated)
IMPORTANT EDIT: I find that 'Use Legacy Pixel Pipeline' fixes the issue with D3D8 - The game now runs flawlessly. :D
I guess there should be a note in the GameFAQ about this since it requires an advanced setting change.

in my 6800GT the textures are fine, and i don't have to enable "Use Legacy Pixel Pipeline", so it's your hardware fault there

I played through Ocarina of Time with PJ64 1.6 + Jabo's D3D8 from the Forest Temple right to Ganon's Castle and experienced no errors of note, other than the brief white background to Link's picture you get when you change equipment which is not present in other plugins and the real N64 and Gamecube. It would be great if someone can verify this to be a true bug, probably framebuffer related (is not fixed with the Copy framebuffer to RDRAM option). I also have a native state with all heart pieces, equipment and zero deaths without any cheats used if that's useful :P
I haven't tried Master Quest, but I know that it had issues with PJ64 1.5 that required cheats to be activated in order to finish the game. This will need a bit of testing.

For me, I had a problem with Change memory&cache (I mentioned it before), in forest temple. The game froze when I was un/twisting (forgot which) the corridor, I shot the arrow, and the camera moves through the corridor, and back, then it freezes. Changing it to default fixes this (I haven't tried others). But I had the lost woods prob, so I don't think either default or change mem&cache are perfect, but these rarely happen so it doesn't bother me much at all.
EDIT: Oh I forgot, another freeze, using default (I think), after completing the shadow temple, and getting warped back the graveyard, walking into kakariko village freezes the game. I changed back to change mem&cache (I think), and it was ok. it was a bitch though, since shadow temple is prob the only one which has a boss door damn deep inside the dungeon.

I don´t know if its the right place to post, but it seems that Duke Nukem - Zero Hour needs "Send Audio lists to Audio Plugin" for Sound. Maybe notice this as RSP prob. in gamefaq after confirmation :-)
-Edit-
There seem to be more Probs with Duke, on the first there are 2 places where the game hangs (sound still working and running), only graphics hangs, not sure but i remember that i read somewhere that 1st level is unplayable, not sure if it was in an older PJ64 Version.
The Places are the the exit to Hangar 2 and a place who could be a shooting test.
-Edit 2-
Could it be that the Intro where the military girl asks Duke for Help is cutting off?
She says something about Aliens and help us and next scene is Duke talking with himself in the past.
(lol, nice scene where Duke shoots a sceleton with a shotgun and blood appers :P )

Smiff: I tried to unravel the cause of the 'Not Found' issue when you load up the GameFAQ, and now I understand what's happening. I made a workaround for the issue if anyone is interested. The cause is that PJ64 points it to a file that no longer exists but used to exist here:
html/8 FAQ/games/_index.htm
I made a workaround by duplicating welcome.htm to resemble the "missing file" and changed the links so the stylesheet and link worked. I'll attach the modified chm and source. The filesize is almost the same. I hope that it is perfect so I that I can go to bed worry free! There is less pressure for a rush release to fix this minor bug now. :P

clements we know lol, thanks but i put that in originally as a workaround (as it is in v1.6), now Witten has patched the source (the app source)... so it works in my copy :p i may put the workaround back in.

You want a new issue eh? :P
Here's one, Mickeys Speedway USA, if you use the 1.5.2 plugin, the in-game graphics are totally screwy, I don't remember that with 1.5 or 1.5.1:
Edit: Actually it is happening in 1.5 for me as well, may be driver related. I'll update my drivers.

Mickeys Speedway USA : there is a problem of with starting lights: they doesn't light up ....

RadeonUser
May 29th, 2005, 17:14
Uhm why are you using the D3D6 plugin anyway? From your computer specs you have an X800 thats more than capable of handling all the effects Jabo uses.
The only issue we have on our list for mickey's speedway is the go lights not working. It doesnt seem like anyone has these working.
On a note for everyone else: There will be no work done on the D3D6 plugin. It was dropped and is only provided for backwards compatability on older generation video cards. Optimally the D3D8 plugin should work fine for those cards as well (you may have to Use legacy pixel pipeline for some odd quirks that arent auto detected though)
ScottJC
May 29th, 2005, 17:20
Just wanted to see if the old plugin handled it better.
Edit: Plus, newer isn't always better in all situations, take Banjo-Tooie for instance, with 1.5.2 the game never crashes - with 1.6 it crashes within 20 minutes.
Then there's Turok, the game runs better with the older plugin as well.
I am well aware that no work will be done on the older plugin, just something for the gamefaq if this turns out to be a common error, and there are people out there who cannot use the new plugin.

I notice that Legend of the Mystical Ninja: Starring Goemon's audio is not only off, but it just doesn't sound right either. The music in game sounds nothing like what I remember of the game playing it on my N64, nor does it sound like the USF dumps or the OST which I have.
Anyone know of an audio codec which makes the game sound exactly the way it should?

This appears to be a conflict of some kind. Using Jabo's graphics and audio plugins sounds flawless - really nice. To check this for yourself, use this combination and do not allow the camera angle to change when testing this since...
Jabo's plugin does not support 'Faster loading Tiles' like Rice's plugin. I seem to recall that MN uses large textures that is slow to load in the normal way or something like that, so he added this option for it to be fullspeed, otherwise the game has the massive slowdowns. MN is only playable with Rice's plugin (and perhaps Glide64 using a real Voodoo).
As soon as you switch graphics plugins to Rice's Video the audio sounds nothing like it should even using the same audio plugin. Sounds terrible - like most of the tune and bass is removed, and some of the sound effects are gone. You were right about listening to the USF rip - the music is accurate. I actually own this game for real so I can confirm that.
This is a very weird issue. My guess is a conflict. For the time being, 1964 doesn't have this problem.

Thanks a lot.
Also, I forgot to mention this, but is there a way to lock a game at 30 FPS, not 60? A lot of N64 games (including Mystical Ninja) run a bit faster than they were meant to, since, well, they weren't supposed to run at 60 FPS. :P

I've just noticed some things about this release, here they are:
There were some problems regarding Mischief Makers that weren't added in this version; here's a more detailed description about them:
Mischief Makers (E) [!]:
- On level 3-10 where you have to take part in some events the last event (Mathfun) is unplayable because the text for the caclulations is missing. You can continue the game by selecting another event or by trying to guess the correct result.
- On level 4-1 there is a rock that chases you. This rock is invisible. You can continue the game by moving as fast as you can. The rock is visible with Jabo's video plugin v1.52
- On various underground levels there should be a black mask that covers most of the screen except from the middle. This mask is missing (this actually makes the game easier). The mask is somewhat emulated incorrectly with Jabo's video plugin v1.52
The above was tested on a GeForce 2 MX and a Mobility Radeon X600 using the default plugins. The problems cannot be fixed by changing any video plugin options.
The "Mickey's Speedway USA" entry in PJgameFAQ has wrong title (the title is : "Chrome Demo - Enhanced (PD ").

On the Mischief Makers note it wasnt added because it hasnt been verified by us. Each report is investigated by us and if it holds truth it is added to the gamefaq, settings are changed, and/or suggestions are added.
We asked for state saves of the issues but nothing was provided for us. We simply cant devote the time to testing/playing through each issue that's brought up. I tried playing through that game but it simply gave me a headache trying to understand what to do. Everyone else was busy testing /adding / verifying other issues or dealing with real life.
At this point we are relying on each of you to help us improve PJ64 and it may sound bad but if our requests go unanswered the problem may be pushed into a lower priority in favor of spending more time on other games and demos that can be more easily dealt with.

I noticed two errors in Megaman 64 (U):
- You can't see the refractor piece in the cutscene when you start a new game with the lastest video plugin, but you can with 1.5.2. (This doesn't require a save state, does it? You can start new game right away.)
(EDIT: I just noticed that you need to enable Use legacy pixel pipeline to see it.)
- The game intro screen will have odd lines in it when you play on fullscreen with jabo's latest video plugin. (Again, doesn't happen with 1.5.2 for me and you won't need a save state to this one either, you see the intro right as you load the rom)

To me, MiretanK.O, it looks like that your video card does not support pixel shaders of ANY kind. I would very strongly suggest that you upgrade your video card to one that supports pixel & vertex shaders if you want to have better graphics rendering.
This is probably why your screenshots show that wierd blending
Miretank
June 3rd, 2005, 05:26
thanx sir camehan, yeah, my video card doesn't support a lot of effects (other lack for me is blend mode, i feel this in zelda), and while I don't have enough money to buy other card i'll be using plugins that suits better my limitations. and for the ones in the same situation of mine, try to use use different plugins to get better results.

June 3rd, 2005, 08:08
I understand. I was having some real wierd rendering errors with my old video card (which was by coincedance, the exact model of your's, except it had more video RAM). I recommend using the plugin "gln64" for Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time. It should also work extremly well with other games, if you have a video card that doesn't support pixel shaders.
Also, Rice's latest plugin with the default OpenGL combiner should work wonders with your current video card. It worked extremly well with my old one, and by rights it should work on yours, too.

Found an undocumented issue with Ogre Battle 64 on the title screen.
Shot #1: Jabo's D3D6 1.52/Jabo's D3D8 1.6
No silhouettes rendered on the hill
Shot #2: Direct64 (+ many other plugins)
Silhouettes are rendered on the hill, but incorrectly
Shot #3: Real N64 pulled from here (http://ndex.simgames.net/gamepage/n64/ob64.shtml)
Silhouettes are rendered on the hill
Can anyone confirm this one?

aha, this is a good time to say, if you're going to do a post like that, which is good, please attach a pic of what you see, and ideally a pic of what you should see (googling the game often works).
Texture Filter CAUSES the pink edges for me.
Legacy Pixel Pipeline CAUSES the cape bug for me.
Just thought I should point this out, and maybe the Texture filter needs some work :alien2:

About Conker, I didn't notice anything wrong either. The only glitch you can still see is the motion blur effect, e.g. when Conker wakes up the next morning. The "Copy FB to RDRAM" option didn't help anything.

I also noticed when comparing Conker emulation to my actual N64 its also missing some 'halo' effects around lights ,for example in the screenshot below the big green light on the wall should have a halo / glow effect around it.

Yes, I see. Besides, Conker's shadow also seems to become darker the closer it is to him and the overall contrast matches the atmosphere much better (might be caused by your digicam shot). The game looks pretty nice on the original thing.
mathesar
June 21st, 2005, 16:33
Ya the shadow actualy looks much nicer on the real thing ,it animates very smoothly and is dark closer to him like in the pic , the shadow animation is kind of choppy / jerky in pj64 and also has a lower resolution look to it (blocky) - But I dont know of any other emulator that runs conker as well as PJ64.

June 21st, 2005, 16:39
I'd say it is a gfx plugin issue (if you want to put it that way - the fact that something like this can be done is still amazing). 1964, the emu I mainly use, runs the game a little better, because turning the CF to 1 makes the game actually run smoother than on the N64 (some strange dynamic frame skip calculation in the game makes this possible :D ). Strangely PJ64 doesn't run the game that well.
P.S.: Those two bright lines on the top and on the bottom of that screenshot - are they caused by your TV?
mathesar

P.S.: Those two bright lines on the top and on the bottom of that screenshot - are they caused by your TV?
Yea for some reason my N64 displays with small black bars on top and bottom on my TV (cant see the black bars in the screenshot) its sort of like how a widescreen dvd movie would display but n64 has much smaller bars, so your seeing the extreme top & bottom of the n64 image wich you wouldnt normaly see ,the bright lines are a result of the black bars , its kind of wierd considering my other consoles dont do this (PS2/Xbox/Gamecube) but it never really bothered me...it might have something to do with it being an HDTV.

Conker actually has the same texture glitch that Turok has. Certain textures look far more repeated than they should be. It's fixed by turning the legacy pixel pipeline on, but I don't know what other kinds of bugs that brings.

This is gonna repeat itself, but:
If a bug can be fixed by activating an option provided by the gfx plugin you use, it's not an issue. It would be similar to enabling the "Force Normal Blending" option and telling everyone that Super Mario 64 had missing textures.
Smiff
July 1st, 2005, 12:58
What F-3582 said (if an option fixes it it's not an issue) is basically right and a good rule of thumb (although sometimes, an option is needed where it "shouldn't" be, but that's up to us). so please check that nothing in the plugin fixes it before reporting. it's ok though, because it's still worth putting in the gamefaq.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but I just was playing Bomberman 64, and I went to a boss (any Level 4 boss will do), and there is a complex blur effect used in these boss fights at the beginning, which is not emulated correctly; a bunch of corrupted multicolor lines replace it. The same happens in the game credits with zooming-out pictures (at least the one when you beat Black Fortress, I can't remember the one when you beat Rainbow Cloud).
Also, when I tried this on the U version, I set up a new file, and PJ64 couldn't even complete the opening FMV. It freezes right after the rays from Black Fortress fire on the running red bombermen. I don't know if this is a problem only for me, or what...

Both Zelda games seem to have some glitches:
Zelda OoT: The adult princess Ruto (the Zora princess who works as a sage :D) doesn't fade in and out correctly: her body immediately disappears/materializes, only her head seems to fade out/in as supposed.
Also in the end credits where all the sages are standing in front of Death Mountain, the camera looks into the sky and you see some sort of zooming. The skybox, however gets smaller and smaller (might be intended) and eventually you'll see its black borders.
Zelda MoM: Shortly before a new day begins (when you hear the bells toll), the screen gets smaller and the borders get glitchy. However, as soon as the new day begins, it gets back to nomal.
I'll post some screenshots as soon as I find some time to do it.
P.S.: Try www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us) - it'll host every image you want.

I figured out how to enable the complex blur effect, in response to my post:
"Don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet, but I just was playing Bomberman 64, and I went to a boss (any Level 4 boss will do), and there is a complex blur effect used in these boss fights at the beginning, which is not emulated correctly; a bunch of corrupted multicolor lines replace it. The same happens in the game credits with zooming-out pictures (at least the one when you beat Black Fortress, I can't remember the one when you beat Rainbow Cloud)."
If you enable "Copy framebuffer to RDRAM" it will go very slowly, but WILL emulate the blur effect. I'm not sure about the zooming-out pictures, but it might fix that too. This also fixes most of the intro problems (uses the blur effect too)

for me i think (UNSURE) it could be CPU GFX effect: the cpu is treating all the gfx data so there is no ucode used. It's as with Yakouchuu II - Satsujin Kouru with the movies.
It's detectable for those two games hopefully as most of those effects CAN'T be detected by plugins/emulators it seems (Starcraft intro for instance).
May be Pokemon Stadium GB Tower is using it too
Afaik there is no sound, that's not good and it could be something else.
well nothing to do for that i think :(

Extreme G XG2 seems to have some serious CPU needs. It's most noticable in map Canous, when you're going through the Lower Village map varient, or Mountain Pass. Although the framerate still says 60fps throughout the whole race, it slows down to a slide show on any of my PC's under an Athlon 3200+ XP or equivilant, and even then it has a little trouble. Tried changing my settings (CF, Advanced GFX options, dropping down to preformance setting) but it didn't help.
This may have been already documented, but I searched the thread and FAQ, and nothing mentioned it, so I posted.
Also, when I run Micro Machines 64, I experiance no slow downs or graphics glitches at all. It plays perfectly for me.

If the VI/s remain constant, it's not a problem with your system. Go back and read some of the reviews from the time of its release. XG2 was roundly criticized for its crippling slowdown.

I'm aware of the normal slow down that occurs even on a real N64. However, I was talking about the horrible slow down that you get on anything that under a 3200+. I mean about 1 frame every two or three seconds. Having a fast computer eleminates this down to its "normal" framerate trouble.

Turok 2 - Seeds of Evil (FGD)
A warning that in the current public version of GoodN64,
the following [!] ROMs may be bad, because a redump exists:
Bass Tsuri No. 1 - Shigesato Itoi's Bass Fishing (J)
Diddy Kong Racing (J) (changed status to "Bad ROM?" because CRC changed)
Pawapuro Puroyakyu 6 (J) (aka Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 6)
Yousuke Ide's Mahjong School (J) (aka Ide Yosuke no Mahjong Juku)
Nushi Tsuri 64 Shiokaze ni notte (old dump definately bad, now starts!)

Tsumi to Batsu - Chikyuu no Keishousha / Sin and Punishment
I thought the complete name was Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth ?

Cosmetic errors:
Some of the game descriptions have a gap between the <hr> line and Known issues/Frequently Asked Questions text and some don't. I assume that the gap is supposed to be there because it is in all games between the <hr> line and the FAQ answers.

during 2- player mode during the race there is a lot of slowdown and the flag is in the wrong spot (should be under the time i have post a correct pic) and at the start of a race a black box appears at the top of the screen
Rampage - World Tour (E) [!] and (U) [!] during the demo glitchy black line coming from near Lizzies mouth (green monster)
in Liverpool stage black line thru sky
in Key Largo stage water is glitchy with black lines and part of the scene is missing (water ,sand)
I have save states if anyone needs them

1.Tarzan (U) can be fixed easily by switching to Jabo's Direct 3d6 1.5.2 plugin.
2.Rampage World Tour (U) need to use glN64 v0.4.1 to get the glitches out, speed is kinda sacrificed though. 3rd party plugin.
3.Robotron 64 (E) is confirmed of having a 3d logo of Crave, haven't figured out why (U) rom doesn't. Sound/music speed
can be fixed if you use Jabo DirectSound 1.6- Sync game to Audio on.
4.Chopper Attack(U), F1 World Grand Prix I(U) and F1 World Grand Prix II(E) recquire a 3rd party plugin called Glide64 v0.8 wonder (paste in the plugin folder) with it's glide3x.dll(outside the plugin's folder.) It fixes all their problems.
5.Clay fighter 63 1-3(U) can have a few of it's issues fixed by grabbing Jabo Direct3D6 1.5.2.
6.Road Rash 64 can get all fixed up by using Rices newest plugin (Rice 6.1.1 Beta 6 is what I'm using). 3rd party plugin.

i had a look at the faq entry for perfect dark and it says that modern hardware is need for the cam spy to work properly. well i have a 9800 pro and you mean to tell me that that video card isn't "modern" enough? and what's strange is that it'll work sometimes in coop mode.
are there some rom options that i should enable for this particular hardware to get the cam spy working bcause it's very frustrating being stuck on the second mission :)
no one?

no one?
First of all: completely wrong thread.
Possible solution: Try enabling the "Copy FB to RDRAM" option in the video plugin.

EDIT: I diagnosed the problem: Some cheats were on. The default cheats included for Yoshi's Story will, when all activated, freeze the game when you get the last fruit.
Original Post: I have a problem with Yoshi's Story inwhich when you get the last piece of fruit (on the first real level at least), the game freezes. I checked, and my ROMs are good.

I noticed some problems in PJ64 and thought i ought to report them.
1. Castlevania - Legacy of Darkness; I noticed that nearing the end of the begging long movie there is a noticable glitch.
2. Rat Attack; At the very first the frame rate is very slow. For me it averages about 11.74 FPS.
3. 007 Goldeneye; in windowed mode; walk james bond around a little then move your mouse to system; which is on the menu bar; click it and there is an offset glitch in the video.
4. In Bust-A-Move '99; the game is completely unplayable the only thing that shows perfectly is the Acclaim Entertainment preveiw, but before and after the preveiw it shows a corrupted white line, and a barcode looking thing. I have the same problem with the game; Bust-A-Move 3 DX.
5. Big Mountain 2000; when you see the menu in the game then texture that says "press start" is way off insted it says "rt press sta" and same goes with all the options that come after I press start. Example: New game says "EW GAME N" and options says "ptions o"
6. Bettle Adventure Racing; when you press a button to skip the preveiws of the gameplay where the car is racing and crashing there is a yellow and black corrupted video segment that displays before entering the main menu.
7. Dark Rift; when fighting you and your opponent are not visible.
8. Bottom of the 9th; the game preveiws at the first are only displayed as a flash and are corrupt. After that the screen is black for an unusually long time until the menu shows.
9. Mission Impossible; when you start a game with the difficulty set at possible it shows a movie at the first located in a park. The grey building in the background shows a side that makes the building look uneven.
10. Paper Mario; when the stage is introduced onto the screen there are a series of flashes that shouldnt be in the game.
11. Yoshi's Story; while in your first level playing, you start running and jumping the video on the left half of the screen flickers.
12. Mega Man 64; after the two nintendo and capcom preveiws show there is a ocean and a sky and in that sky there is a plane. In this setting there is an offset black grid, when it should show no black grid lines.
13. F1 World Grand Prix 2; when racing the throttle bar in the bottom-right corner seems corrupted.
14. F1 World Grand Prix 2; Fans in the top seats have a blue outline arround them.
15. Monster Truck Madness 64; the first logo screen shows a bunch of lines which are supposed to be words. Same goes with the rest of the text in the game. The text is replaced with a line that looks like a bunch of metal barrols put together.
16. Hydro Thunder; all off the seperate textures in the game have a green line arround them.
17. Hydro Thunder; when you are choosing your boat it shows a movie clip in the middle of the motorboat riding in the water. The water flickers lightgreen and back to water this is a corruption in the video.
18. Carmageddon 64; when at the menu there is a rotating trophy, it is brown and i believe it should be metalic gold.
19. Command and Conquer; When you are listening to general sheperd's call the video is stretched out of it's frame.
20. Battlezone - Rise of the Black Dogs; when playing; the bottom half of the screen is black the top is almost normal but flickers.
21. The world is not enough; there is a soundcorruption when you first play, and you are talking to the bank lady.
22. Fighter Destiny 2; When fighting the life bars seem wrong.
23. Kirby 64; I believe the life bar is incorrectly shown.
These are all the bugs I could find in the time i had to type this, i hope to have helped.
thanks
EDIT: I am using the latest pj64 v1.6 and the latest plugins.
