Dear fellow Chankast users,

I've recentley started playing Sonic Adventure on this wonderful emulator. It worked perfectly at the beginning. However, after playing the Casino stage with sonic, I need to take the ice stone to the Mystic Ruins to unlock the enterance to the icy mountain. So, I go get the ice stone, and the last picture I get is sonic riding away on the train (and the loading Mystic Ruins thing). Then the game just stops.

I've lowered the CPU speed to 50 (as it said in the FAQ), and though this works usually (when he's not carrying the stone) it does not work when he is carrying the stone. I've tried with and without the Capcom Hack (the Capcom Hack fixd various errors in Shenmue II), so now I'm lost.

What can I do to resolve this issue before the last of my hairs are gone?

sorry, man, i don't know you'd do to fix this. since you've played around with all settings, then it seems sa1 isn't completely playable(unless others that've beat the game using the emu wanna share their settings, etc..).
you could try downloading a save and just continuing one level up from where you were, or i guess you could just play the game on your dc or get the pc version. :shrug:

Um has anyone else got the random "iocontrol error" message while playing Sonic Adventure? is there a way to rectify this?

I'm using Chanka .25 new and old grfx with various settings tweaked . . . crashes in the same spots though (I was just avoiding those spots, but now it crashes going into a level, ARG!

To answer xycos question about crashing. Have you tried the old GRFX version. I did that, then the emu randomly decided it like the old one better . . . got past that point, then switched back to the new GRFX core . . .

For me crashes like this are random, just try again and again...

I found at least a partial answer . . . Use Daemon tool 3.29 (an older build) as a workaround for that error . . . now if only it would stop hanging in certain spots . . . ahem(Sonic stage 5)ahem . . .

lol its been almost 2 years since u posted but ur waiting is up and i found out how to make this work in chankast. u probably already figured it out but ill just post this for other ppl to see.

step 1.unmount any mounted dreamcast iso's

step 2.open chankast click run>start.

step 3.wait for the dreamcast logo (aka bios screen) animation to pass and for it to load te screen with the controller,alarm clock,music note and memory card options.

step 4. click on the memory card option.

step 5. format the memory card and follow all the options afterwards.

step 6. now close the emulator and remount the sonic adventure in daemon tools 3.29 or any old version that supports cdi's, u can find the old version at OldVersion.com (http://www.oldversion.com) . forums also has old version too.

step 7. start sonic adventure and get up to the part with the train to mystic ruins but dont go in it yet.

step 8. right b 4 u get in the train on the right hand side of ur keyboard on the number pad and hold the - button until cpu says 50 (u might wanna turn on show stats in Options> configure video) and board the train and itll load past the part that freezes. if u wanna raise it back to normal 100 cpu just press the + button right under the - button till cpu is at 100 again. u will also have to do this step with tails if ur gonna play as him. and do this everytime b 4 going onto a train cuz u never know when it might freeze.

step 9. have fun playing the rest of sonic adventure ^^.

Not only does this fix the problem with it freezing at that part but now u can save ur games yay ha ha!!! the whole problem was the stupid memory card file lol.
