Kas, you work is good. It looks to be in between cel-shaded and realistic - kid of like a painting, or a well-drawn anime. Perhaps you should create your own thread, as it does not fit precisely with either pack.
Actually, come to think of it, its style is more similar to Twilight Princess' style. Perhaps your work could be what mdtauk will test his Twilight Princess HUD on.
Anyway, good stuff with the new pack. Finally, true hi-res dialogue and menus! w00t!
And let's not forget the new world textures and HUD. Maybe this project will gain momentum again.

But the h in misplaced too.
It has to be after the ä, not before it
So the whole right sentence would be "Wähle deine Sprache" ;)

Dave, here is a dump of all of Kakariko's textures. I had to include bmp's as well, because most of the house textures were only as bmp's. So the ones I have are PNG's with Alpha, and ci_bmp, so if you have to edit an alpha channel for something, you can. All textures are named properly for instant editing and usage. I look forward to your release.
So the house textures will only come in BMP? Can everyone confirm this?

Kas, very good, I like it, but I think that you should stick with KMan's surrounding wall...however you say it...the dirt used as a barriar of the area...or sumthing.

Kas your work is decent, but it deviates from the original feel of the game quite a lot, perhaps it's the grass that's chaning it all, see if you can play around with that second grass layer.

Perhaps I should quit since nobody seems to be very supportive, feels more like I'm being ignored :| Anyway, here is Lake Hylia, took me all day to find the proper textures and re-do them. Overall, I'm happier with the way Lake Hylia turned out in comparison to LonLon Ranch. The Lake hasn't ever looked as peaceful and pristine.. even the intrusion of a Tektite or a Sea Octorock can't disrupt the lakes beauty.. Anyway, someone please let me know what they think based on the images.

That 4th screen is using an old version of the pack .
And i promiss i will remake that ugly rumble pack and skultulla.
More screenshots are beyond welcomed :).
Then That means you've named it wrong ;)

I released LonLon Ranch, didn't I? At that time I was having issues with the grass layers, maybe I still am. I just did everything in Lake Hylia except for the tombstone. The water textures I'm using I felt more closely resembled the original. The big problem, really, is that Nintendo sometimes used the same texture on like.. 5 objects, so they all get plastered with what I intended for a certain object. For the grass, well, the grass I currently have best matches with the field walls I have up, and to me the field looks gorgeous. I even re-textured the bridge that goes over the stream. Federelli, my big issue is that the dirt path's going through the field are far too yellow, I'm not too sure how you got them to darken in Kokiri Forest, but I'd like to know. I tried to find a texture that might have been laid on them, but came up fruitless. As for Kakariko, yeah, all the houses textures are in bmp. Maybe they were PNG in the ci_png folder, but it was 4 AM and I forgot about it. As of now I am starting on Dodongo's Cavern. Wish me luck!

Hmm, then again, I'll leave Death Mountain and Dodongo's Cavern to someone else. Dave, I dunno, you should go ahead and start your work. It's kinda hard to get good dumps for me, because PJ64 crashes often when dumping. I wasn't even able to get 1/4 of the textures in Dodongo's Cavern. I'll probably start with Forest Temple now..

Kas, my reply was to samurai2020, but I would like to see someone try Death Mountain :)
Just find that area between realism and the game look. You can get sometimes I good result if you place a realistic image and make is translucent over the actual game texture (stretched at 4x and hit with the median filter).

Yeah, I meant work on Kakariko since I got that dump for you. I would really love to see Kakariko re-textured. Staying 100% faithful to the games original textures when you're hi-resing them is kind of difficult, which is why I completely re-textured the stone pillars at Lake Hylia. KMan, the "wall" texture you used for the field I think would be much more suited for Death Mountain, as the texture seems rather muddy. Not muddy in that it's blurry or anything, just that the rock/dirt looks like dry mud to me. And I have a question to whoever is in the position to answer it; is anyone gonna re-do enemy textures?

i have a problem, in all the dumps from dungeon map i can´t modifiy the "fill" of a map only the figure. someone has a dump of the texture of the map cause i want to put the textures from the image that you can see with the screenshot

sorry for my bad explanation, here's the problem:
i have dumps from the dungeon map (deku tree) i modify the "floor" in the maps with a texture but it only shows as only one color (then the map looked filled with one color), so any texture added is plain color once you modified the dump (and blue cyan color only by the way). So i thought that it has to be a dump of a different type (rgb, vertexes,other) that´s what i need someone who can help with that kind of dump
what you can see on the screenshot are only shapes with different opacity put to look like the image

He's complaining about how he can't change the colour of the maps. It doesn't have anything to do with the dumps; the game just changes the colour of the map to cyan to make it match the other maps. You can change the colour, but only to a certain extent, so I suggest you just stick with the cyan.

I made a texture for Kokiri Village by combined two already made textures. However, whenever this texture is loaded the graphics become corrupted in the village.
The first picture shows the old texture, and everything working perfectly.
The second picture shows what happens when i try to load my new texture.
The third and fourth pics are of the old and new textures.
Can someone try loading the new texture on their machine to check if this problem is just for me, or common.

Kman, I am currently texturing the Water Temple, and I was wondering if you were up to the challenge of redoing one of the more complicated ones that I can't seem to handle :\ It's obviously the water rising emblem where you play Zelda's Lullaby to change the water level. The help would be greatly appreciated.

they have some dependance with oot logo and master quest but oot logo need more work (on the shield)... you can see in this thread I've already done both logo, just need some "tweaks"
time to fix all on both logo, properly place (and maybe resize) "THE LEGEND OF" and "OCARINA OF TIME" and last, redo the fire effect...

Personally, I didn't like the black and white 'squares' under the entrances to the different people's houses. The walls look good enough to me, but I think they could be improved.

That particular wall texture, yet unretextured, must be a perfect texture, otherwise it makes kokiri forest look very weird, as seen on those shots.

The black and white 'squares' look like bugs with your video card rather than texture issues, so that can't be fixed. As to the walls - not all of the walls have been retextured yet, so I would say that's the problem. Remember, not all that much has actually been done yet.

Googol, if I don't use those textures I do not have them.
It's something in the texture pack that j234 released that causes it.
You can delete two textures in his pack:
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#6A5D30B5#3#1_all
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#379A16AF#3#1_all.png
The first one is just the HYRULE FIELD text. The second is the thing that caused those black squares.
And I can't see what THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#D4DED5CE#0#2_all retextures. Other than that, it should be fine. :) Nice job J234

Here are images of a Water Temple problem I've found, and no matter how I configure Rice's plugin, the water won't display properly. The first image is with Normal Blender only on. The second is with Normal Combiner also on. Anyone else have this problem or can tell me how to resolve it?

anyway, Z_E_L_D_A is right about the doorway thing, the texture i put in should have had an alpha instead of white. Just delete that gradient texture. Also, the THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#D4DED5CE#0#2_all is the eyes of those creatures in Hyrule Field at night (Stal...?).

Zeytok: Ah, then I have no problem with the darkness. I'm probably too used to the Original Ocarina of Time Logo. :P There is a bit on the shield that looks a bit odd, in my opinion. (I circled what I thought looked odd, on the pic)

The ocarina next to the Master Quest text looks good as well. The text also looks good. When you fix the fire and the the thing that I circled on the pic, it's sure to look great. :D

Hi, Was wondering if there was any solution to the scrambled equipment screen?
Included is a picture of what I get. Also a problem when I hit start, It freezes for a second with a black screen and a white line, then goes into it normaly.
Any assistance would be greatly apreciated.

it's off topic...
You need to change N64 Frame Buffer Emulation and Rendering to Texture Emulation to Write Back & Reload.
Test, if don't change, possibly don't work for you (like for me) in OpenGl mode, change to DirectX mode.
and last, if you have an error when you run a roms (when the plugin video run) change N64 Frame Buffer Emulation and Rendering to Texture Emulation to Basic & Write Back...
BTW, it's better to use RiceVideo plugin with 1964 ;)

If your using photoshop just slowly seperate the Z from the shield and adjust the brightness and contrast. Hell mabey even render a blue lighting effect <make it subtle if you do>

I use the gimp, but i can do it too :P , but I've already said : First, the form and approximate color to view if that can look good
BTW, the brightness and contrast don't look ingame as i've when i edit (the flams effect and background make difference)

Isnt gimp a photoshop clone? I think I had Gimp once for OSX. You should seriously seperate the Zelda from the shield logo using the softwares layer system, and just brighten up the shield, if it looks to dull add more saturation till it looks normal. Im pretty sure anyhow that gimp uses layers.

yes, The Gimp have layer (but not a clone of photoshop, The Gimp is better :P), only difference with Photoshop is the price ;). It's a software that is originally developped for the lovely Linux ;)
but, i don't understand, some people said me more bright and other said less bright (on the MQ Logo)... please make clear, MORE or LESS ?
EDIT: I've forgot to say : I already have knowledge to use saturation for ... but the problem is that logo is a scanned and make like some vertical lines colored when I search to "find" color on the dark part...

hi I'm a noob here and I really wanna play this! but I have a problem, and I did try to search the last posts before I asked this so I'm sorry if it has in fact already been asked. But when I enter the texture filter to change it to "Load hi-res textures if available" it just tells me that "advanced options are not allowed to be made" and I've downloaded two different emulators and they have said the same thing.

Isnt gimp a photoshop clone? I think I had Gimp once for OSX. You should seriously seperate the Zelda from the shield logo using the softwares layer system, and just brighten up the shield, if it looks to dull add more saturation till it looks normal. Im pretty sure anyhow that gimp uses layers.
As far as I know, GIMP is Photoshop 4 feature-wise.

Direct X worked like a charm, thanks again.
EDIT:...shit. neither direct X or opengl seem to be just right. opengl was the best, but some colors still seemed off and as soon as I left the temple of time(it's kind of hard to explain)but the background was covered in gray and my computer slowed down when Link started to move. It slowed to a point where it didn't even look as though Link was moving. Other than that it seemed ok. So....yeah I don't really know my video card and what driver I have, but I'll just mess with it and see what happens. thanks.

Up the contrast and saturation on the letters a bit. Also seems to be a little too purple. The shield looks about right, except the master sword (from what I can see of the original) was brighter.
Biggest problem I can see is the top corner of the Z blends far too much with the shield.
Pretty snazy, though. Hold up on any edits, because I was comparing on two differen display devices, so the colors are obviously going to look pretty different. Things may match up a lot better if I used the TV out to view your screen shot.

i've made some test in the past, but redo the light and dark is a big problem because they can't look like the original one (and the colour look wrong too)...

You can't use the shield from the original logo because it is TOO bright. Blue text on blue background = unreadable. There is a reason the Master Quest shield is so dark.

Fed, I don't think that the original MQ-Shield is much brighter than this. At least if my memory doesn't play tricks on me.
Imo it looks perfect as it is now. Of course that's just my opinion which doesn't have to equal with the others but...at least I think so :P

Great job, Zeytok. Blending the two shield to recapture lost detail REALLY helped out. Kudos to whom made the suggestion. The Z still blends with the top corner of the shield, but the rest stands out a lot better, since there is more depth on the shield. Thicker fonts helped out the pre-sufixies as well. Are the colors appropriate, in comparison to 'Zelda'? If that is just about how they should be, no problems, but it seems a bit awkward. Again, if those are just about the way the font colors should be, no problem. We aren't necessicarily trying to fix design faults/issues of the original games with this project, ey? :)
I personally don't see any problem with the 'Masterquest' text. Probably just doesn't look as solid, since it isn't embossed like 'Zelda', or have a drop shadow like the pre-suffix. If that's how the original logo was, leave it. It's fine.

its a difficult situation. If you leave them, itd be like saying all the work is done by nintendos design groups etc etc, and if they arent happy with it, then that is reason for them to get annoyed, and if you delete it, then that is further reasonf or them to be annoyed.
Both instances depend on nintendo actually caring, however.

I just noticed the Prefix/suffix uses a different font. The original is a San-serif, and you're using a serif font. Also, compare the Os. The original is somewhat oblong. Try Arial. Looks mighty close to the original.

no no, I measured and it is spaced a little less on the new one but logo too is little less bigger than the original (the shield)

i have made some "unusable" items (and equipment) more dark to look more faithfull
i did number of (colour) measure and apparently after you change image in gray they need :
(first number is for The Gimp, second number (%) is for Photoshop)
- brightness : -110 (min:-127) => -86.6 %
- contrast : +20 (max:127) => +15.7 %

It seems that the texture map quality is so high that you don't need to turn on any of the fancy filtering options on the emulator, thus requiring less CPU power and still look amazing. 1) if that work fine with something like HQ4X (good graphics, Idon't speak about speed), your S3 can handle hires but disable filter if you enable hires options (less CPU use)
2) to have "all graphics" you need use combiner mode Pixel Shader (DirectX) or Fragment program extension (Opengl)
3) you need a hard drive with correct speed (not like on a "old" laptop)
make sure you updated the video card's driver
If your processor can do little more than full speed without filter, it's ok

just one precision, when you use filter, all "new" textures is filtered in ram and send to video ram (that why sometime you can see a filtered texture when you have disable the filter and vice versa...)

hi, i know that you already told me that there is nothing more that can be done to modify dungeon maps but i found a way to do it recently. The problem is that a different type of dump is needed and no matter how hard i tried to dump some maps of this type (i.e. deku tree entrance map) i can get it. Below is a screenshot of the texture and i attached 2 dumps (the one that has *_rgb.png is the one that can be textured)
Also, the dumps from png_by_rgb_a folder are what i´m talking about

And another one dump miss for me. I have made an error and i don't have the dump of the princess adult zelda eye when she look down (before ganondorf find her). Can someone give me this dump too?

^ Thank god, a contribution. I remember that Lake Hylia stuff - it was pretty damn good. You could have a thread all to yourself if you wanted to, but that does kind of clutter up the forum with Zelda OoT stuff like Federelli and Amon said it would so I guess that's not such a good idea. In any case, good job.
Hopefully, they'll be more updates to this thread in the coming weeks - not that the thread has to be active ALL the time, but still...

I'm working on replacing the low rez images in the tree house at the begining of the game. After doing a fair amount of work I desided to test it out, so I put the new file in the high rez folder with the proper name, but the image was not replacing. I then tried to make the image 2X the size of the origonal, since the one I used was 4X. But that didn't work, so I just tried to use the origonal size, but still had no luck. Anyone know if it is possible to replace these images, and if so, how? :P
Hope you don't mind me posting this here, just didn't think it was worth creating a new thread for.

Currently you can't see a 320x240 image replacement in game (but you can have the dump). It's a limitation (volunteer or involuntary) in the Rice plugin...

This is a retexturing of the Fishing Hole in Lake Hylia. Some of the fish textures I couldn't get dumped, so they're obviously not retextured :\ Let me know what you think.

I noticed that the door in the waterhole sticks out like a sore thumb, so I retextured it as well. I believe that this texture is universal, meaning it will be used on all other doors like it.

That wood for the doorframe doesnt tile properly, and some of the textures are big departures from the original, which goes against what federelli is trying to do...

That's not entirely my fault. It's Nintendos for using low res textures that blur together instead of tile well and them mapping the same texture to multiple objects. With some objects, your texture will never be the same as the originals, that's just something you'll have to get over. That texture wasn't even meant for the doorframe, but it ended up there too. I can't help it. If you go to LonLon Ranch, you'll see that one texture makes about 75% of the inside of Talons house. When changed it looks stupid, but can't be helped. If Federelli wants it to be different, then he can texture it himself, I don't mind.. people asked for something other than the title screen logo, and I gave them what I've been working on.

Who cares if it's differant from the original, as long as it looks better. Neo64 created a texture for the shooting gallery and it appeared in Talon's house and there in the fishing hole...so I guess it can't be helped.

I have a good copy of the game, have beta 10 graphics plugin, etc etc and I'm still getting some annoying quirks: navi is only wings (no ball), dust is large black pixelated squares, and nintendo logo in beginning is a large cyan square. The same quirks are still there even with 'load hi-res textures if available" is unchecked, which suggests to me its a plug-in compatibility issue. Most of the hi-res textures work fine. I'm using a geforce, if that makes a difference. I'd appreciate any suggestions...

Thanks for replying, I don't have the specs in front of me, so this is from memory, but Im pretty sure I have a geforce4 with the latest driver installed, and I do not know how to change between dirextx/opengl mode, so whatever is default.
I'll get specifics and post them when I have the chance. Thank you for your help

there is one way to solve it, install only nvidia drivers from 40.72 to 56.72, in that range i had no problems (only the wrong colors on some plugins but well i have a gf4 mx too)
i have 56.72 drivers right now so if you get to solve it with your drivers please tell me how you could done it

I remember have a old geforce2mx and a geforce4mx and all time, the best setting is use OpenGL...
the only problem is with last nvidia driver, 75 series (means numbered 75.xx, 76.00, 77.xx, 78.xx) they have big problem in opengl
you need to choice for driver :
- best compatibility : 71.89
- good performance and good IQ : 67.66
- best performance : 56.72 or 78.01(with opengl problem) (depends on which GF4 you have)
btw soniclink2, do you know you haven't the flam effect (and some other) with your setting ?

I'm thinking this isn't possible by just editing textures.
I believe Link's hat, his shirt, and his pants aren't textures, but colored polygons.
So I'd probably have to edit his model to be able to do this.

Fed, I'm working on the title page for Paper Mario, and I'm really frutrated by how long it takes to piece it all together and line everything up. i have 56.72 drivers right now so if you get to solve it with your drivers please tell me how you could done it
oh by the way here is a screen of the problem solved and the configuration i use:
I just rolled my driver back to 71.89 becaus 77.77 was crashing all the time, and it did it again. It doesn't do this with anything else but N64 emus. It never did this until a couple of days ago. What's up with that?

I have both problems, but everything else works near flawlessly so I don't really give a crap. They're minor, tiny things that don't affect the gameplay in any way.

What do you guys use as a controller?
I'm having to use the keyboard.
It's hard to aim Link's hookshot/bow/slingshot with this emulator I'm using.
I have to go into the controller settings and change the sensitivity every time I want to shoot something and then set it back to fast to make Link run at full speed again.
Do any of you use one of those N64-USB controller adapters?

I use a ps2 pad for all my gaming, i made the printer port connector myself.
if you have an n64 pad, you could look at the adaptoid, it seems to be the best supported.

I use a PS2 controller with the KiKy-Joy adapter from Soyo. It cost only $15. Works great with N64 games.

Googols right, they are very minor issues and they dont affect the gameplay really, but it still annoys me a little because it detracts from the feel of the game to open up you start screen and be attacked by this pixelated mess :D
And I don't get any of these problems when I run the game with the defualt graphics plugin, so I feel as if its a problem that really should not be there, its not really a "can you still play the game" issue.
Thanks for helping, you guys really don't have to worry about my comp problems, but if you still interested in my settings, I'll post them when I have a little more time than a couple minutes to post a message.
