If we can't communicate, i think it's gonna be quite hard for you to contribuete :(.
Try writing in proper english or spanish.
To upload files to the forum, go to "manage attachents".
And if you don't know how to take a screenshot, i highly doubt you'll be able to help me at all.
Thanks anyway.

lol, love that answer federelli, anyway, here's a demonstration of my "abilities" although i can't make everything look this good (or bad, your call)
the bushes i could take or leave but i'm especially proud of that shield, i amazed even myself with that, all it needs is rivets and a good backside and it'll be ready.

:o Ok, that's amazing...I haven't been working on anything recently, things are beginning to get complicating, and I'm only a beginner at photoshop while everyone else is using paintshop. Oh well, I'll keep trying.
EDIT #1: I found a fairly good website that has things that can be used for realistic textured environments...still, I prefer to take the pictures myself.
here it is (http://www.mayang.com/textures/index.htm)

Nice shield. I made this a few days ago myself. Hadn't done much since then because of the new plugin. Had to start over with my dumping. You can see that I didn't even get a chance to check it in game as those rivets aren't all lined up properly. I'll see what I can do about getting a pack out by the end of this week. I've got some at my work pc as well as my home one, so I need to put them all together. :S

Um...yeah...going 1v1 with KMan isn't a very smart thing to do. Still good try on the shield and excellent work on the medallions. KMan, AWSOME sheild, once its lined up it will look perfect. I've decided, unless I see something I really want to do in my dumps, I'm done with my work, I've already posted my water and grass textures, so that's enough from me for now. I'll just leave it to the people that are better at it like Fed and KMan and some of the others (TallgeeseIII, Kerber2k, and _pm_(from a differant game)). But if you ever need any png files worked on that you think I might be able to do, just email me. My Email (knives729@sbcglobal.net)
My hat's off to everybody on this project and it's great...um...founders. I'll still be on this thread, but I won't try anything unless requested. Keep it up guys!

um, why does it take ages to show the status screen and links body looks messed up (One the page with your sheild, tunics etc)
also when i change res to the 1024 one it has lines and stuff, but the 900 by something is ok..

TallgeeseIII, i must say i do like Kman's better, but that doesn't mean you should stop working on it. Perhaps weather it a bit more, and get the colors right, giving it a more cartoonish look. I do love those medallions and would love to include them on my pack. Also make the ones on the title screen and whichever other you may find. Great work
Kman, as usual, that's stunning :).
Amon_Knives, wanna give the main title screen a try? Like the Yes, End, Quit, Options, File 1, File 2, File 3 things. Notice that this style of beveling and texture is also used for dungeons to indicate Levels. Wanna try that?

Hi,
I'm new here and I'd like to contribute to this project, too.
Just a few things at first: I really LOVE the grass textures of the Kokiri Forest, thanks to the person who made it!
But: please DO NOT use Arial as the font for all the ingame texts! This font is just wrong. Try using "Zapf Humanist", this matches the original far better! Way closer!!
Download the attachement and put it into your Zelda-hires-folder to see for yourself!
Very good work, guys, keep it up!!!

One idea about the map. As indicated in previous posts, hq4x filter works great to enhance the maps. Someone could download the stand alone executable hq4x program, use it on the dumpped map textures to create a 4x enhanced new map. Some manual works could be done after this before finalize a map texture.
Hq4x program is available at http://www.hiend3d.com/hq4x.html

Now, before I go any farther, I need someone to tell me what they think of these. I used an acual Zelda font, a lot differant from it's original, but I was just trying things out. I personally think I can do better, but I think you guys need to decide this.

for those of you experiencing the blue flames: go to the plugin settings and disable fog...now they should be normal! :-D
TallgeeseIII
March 23rd, 2005, 21:34
uhm... changing the color of the flames at the expense of all the fog in the game... not a good trade off, i don't have the flames problem but if i did i certainly wouldn't want to do that.

Amon_Knives, could you post a non-compressed .jpg, or a .png?
That font is way to different, i'd kinda like you to use the one you think is closest to the original
Neo64, i'd give that font a try and see what i can do. I had to update all text textures anyway due to some weird white borders appearing.
TallgeeseIII, nice work on those medallions. Still do you think you can fix the borders? And i'd hate to ask, but are you making this from scratch? (please say yes) It does look like it's been resized and sharpened. If they are not from scratch, do you think you can give it a try?
TallgeeseIII
March 24th, 2005, 02:11
sorry federelli, the medallions weren't scratch, the shield was though, i got the medallions from the larger textures on the pedastals in the area where the sages talk to you when you meet them (blanked on the name of that place) but what do you mean "Still do you think you can fix the borders?" i don't know what borders you're talking about.
KMan
March 24th, 2005, 02:53
I've been going through the deku tree textures today, and got about 6 knocked out. For things like those medallions, making a nice hi-poly model and material could work really nice, and make it easy to do the other colors.
TallgeeseIII
March 24th, 2005, 04:19
yeah, i thought of modelling them myself in max but remembered those textures, i'm sure other things would be better that way though

March 24th, 2005, 05:24
Just so you know, for the next pack i've made what you did, took the chamber of sages textures and made them to fit the quest. Since i like what i did better, i'll use that.
So show me something amazing and i will go with your approach :).
Pack 0.16 is being zipped right now.
TallgeeseIII
March 24th, 2005, 08:37
i've got no problems with that, heheh, but how's this for "amazing" not really my work again, just my effort (i'm not a great photoshop artist, i just know my way around the program)
i'm having some problems with the belt and forearm of the gauntlets but the rest is the best i could do.
oh, and i wouldn't expect this to be put into the pack, it's just for fun, i'll release it myself later, i just thought you guys might like it too.

For future reference, I won't be updating your links (all texture authors) in the texture threads in the future. It's easy to link to.
For example, if you have uploaded to httpdocs/zeldaoot/Federelli_Kman_Retexture_Pack_v0.16.rar. The web link for downloading it is therefore http://hires.emutalk.net/zeldaoot/Federelli_Kman_Retexture_Pack_v0.16.rar
I renamed your folder and file name so it's easier to link to. For instance, try to avoid spaces and strange characters. Instead of space in the filename use _
I updated your link in the first post, but like I said, please do that yourself for the next release. :)

I love this texture project!!! To make it work for Masterquest, I didnt feel like renaming all the files to ZELDA MASTER QUEST, so I got this nifty program called rename it, it can do seek and replace renaming! :icecream:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/File-Management/RenameIt.shtml
Also, Do anyone else have the same problem with the MQ rom as I do?
I downloaded from 3 differnt places, and each had the same error, For starters, in the equip item menu, Link dosent show up, he is a rainbow colored smear of noise (like a corruped image)
Also the Heart meter is screwed up! Instead of 3 hearts it only has 2, and when I take damage the 2nd one moves over to the place where the 3rd would be, also the hearts dont display in 4ths like they should when I take damage.... I heard there was a good dump and a bad dump.... I suposibly tried both, looked the same to me!
Hypothetically, if I saved a game from the bad dump, and then loaded it the good one, do you think the errors from the bad still show up?
***EDIT***
Odd, I got a copy of LoZooT 1.2 and it has the same problem....
So I narrowed it down to 2 problems.... Video/emulation settings, or My Gforce2 MX SUCK MAJOR ASS. I am willing to bet it is the 2nd one

I am using the latest version 6.1.0c
I tried both 1964 and Project64, but it shouldnt make much difference, they had the same errors.
Also I am using OpenGL mode, it seems less buggy...
And IMO will be FAR SUPERIOR to any inferior micro$oft graphics rendering engine...
But I tried DirectX (9) anyway... the Heart bug got fixed and the arrows on the maps were displayed, BUT the equipment menu was still screwed.... Oh an all the texture rendering sucked... becuase it is DirectX....damn M$!
So now I am convinced that my Gforce2 just sucks ass...

I've been following progress for a few days now, and finally felt motivated enough to check it out. My card is a bit on the $hit side of things, but can still pull off a totally playable experience with a few graphical glitches here and there (got the [new] textures working, but it sure slows my ass down, so screw 'em in-game for awhile :P ), my first n64 test since the first UltraHLE busted out. Cool!
Your progress/work is incredibly heartening!
That said, there are a couple of textures that could use a shred more attention:
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#5A51DA69#3#0_all.png - "Lost Woords"
THE LEGEND OF ZELDA#330FFDFC#3#1_all.png - (circle is noticeably offset to the right of the arrow)
Keep going, KMan and Federelli!

Cybertronic - Check the Primary Depth hack and Near Z Plane options under the Current Game Options tab. near z plane fixes the hearts problem, and primary depth hack supposedly fixes the coronas when you look at the sun (another glitch most people don't notice... i haven't gone and looked for myself though) as for the screwed up equipment screen, mines is the same way, nothing fixes it, rice's plugin even dumped the textures from that as being the garbled colors.

Well, I got my comp working again. First off, the title menu things are looking better (All I need to do is find some way to make the text look as if it's engraved into the metal...ooo, I'll ask the guy who taught me how to use this crazy thing called photoshop in the first place), but the treasure chest seems to look a bit off, as if its too light or...something, I can't quite put my finger on it. Here's a pic.
EDIT #1: Ohh, I just figured it out, the metal looks too blended with the wood and it looks too "new". Maybe if you aged it up a bit?

The pieces are meant to be seperate, so just save them seperately as they are dumped.
Technically, the reason is that the N64 hardware can only support up to a certain texture size (probably 64 pixels in length or width). Since you cannot save a very detailed background image in 64x64 pixels, they instead cut the detailed one up in pieces, and apply it on a checkerboard background plane, one texture for each "square".
Federelli
March 25th, 2005, 16:44
To map the sky correctly you need to model a cube, and then map the sky textures to it.
Kman can certainly explain it better since he's experienced in sky texturing.

How're the Market background and 2D backgrounds coming along? Now THAT would suck to work on because of all the implied detail in the original texturing.
No hurry, though; you know I can't use the new stuff yet anyway. :whistling
Actually, I see that the market is modeled modestly in polygonal terms... are the textures for that area actually fixed to the 3d models, or is it more of a skybox?

I don't know what's wrong, I've already created some small textures and it worked...
First, crate a blank layer, then add a mask layer to that. Second, go to "Help", then click on "Export Tranparent Image...". From there hit next, then Online, then PNG. Save it with the name of the texture into your hires folder. It will then be 32-bit and able to play in the game. It took me a long time to figure that one out.
Savatron, in case you havn't noticed, this is a zelda OOT thread, that's all we're worried about and we're just going to ignore anything that does not have to do with retexturing OOT. My suggestion would be to start a new thread if you want your problem resolved.
Fed, I'm not sure if you've fixed it in v.17, but the Lost Woods havn't had a retextured title yet. just letting you know.
I've done some work on the boulder textures, hope you like...(BTW, it isn't a picture I took for this texture, I found it online from a quake website, so if I'm right, KMan might be familiar with this)

No, it doesn't matter if you put both in or not. But I can't help you any farther. Are you sure it is the right texture name for what you want to work on? Cause I've had a lot of problems with that.
I've created a few things for the Death Vally Trail. Some need more work (I mean, the textures around it that I cannot find need work), but here are sum pics, tell me if there's anything in them you would want changed, because I know there is something wrong with them. It just doesn't look right to me.
In the first picture, the ceiling texture is what I cannot find the dump for.

@Amon_Knives: Ok, thanks. I will try to find the reason for my problem... perhaps anybody else knows the solution?
The picture of the Death Vally Trail is looking good, great work! I don't think there's something wrong with it... maybe the textures of the stones could be at a bit higher resolution, then it would be perfect!

Oh sorry :P I'm from Germany and I only know the German version of Zelda with all the German titles of the places. (I wondered about the mentioned name "Death Vally Trail", too)
Of course you're right, it's called "Todesberg" (Death Mountain) and "Gerudotal" (Gerudo Valley) in the German game.
@Amon_Knives: So it's sufficient just to put a "*_rgb" png-file into the hires folder?

Anyways, the goron's back is also a problem for me. I'm not sure if it's the video card's problem or not. If anyone has the dump for the ceiling and ground on Death Mountain Trail, could you post it here so I can finish Death Mountain Trail.
Neo: Yes, it is sufficiant, at least I havn't found any instance where both were needed. Perhaps someone else could explain it better, I mean, you're asking a guy who messed up Death Mountain with Death Valley.

Go ahead and remove that goron back texture. It was one of the first few I had done, and it was a CI texture with a pallette of less than 256, so photoshop saved it out in a format that the emulator didn't like too well. And since it was a CI texture and now I can do full color replacements, I'll be doing that one again, later.
I'll get to that one later. I'm going to try and do one area at a time, and work my way to each area, getting as many as I can. If I see something else that I recognize, I'll go ahead and do that one. So, for now, the goron is a little ways off.
Kokiri Forest
Deku Tree
Lost Woods (any that aren't covered by the first two)
Hyrule Field
Hyrule Castle
Kakariko Village
Death Mountain
Goron City
Dodongo Cavern
you get the idea....

It's always a good idea to do one thing at a time. I'm as giddy as a schoolboy to see your Kokiri forest KMan. I just started a retexturing of Death Moutain Trail tonight, and then I plan to release a .rar file of my work for you guys and the public to do with what they wish (as long as they give credit). But, I will not release Death Mountain Trail until I am completely satisfied with what I see (and so far, I've got a lot of work to do to get to that point.)
Fed, I'm not going to work on the title screen, to tell you the truth, making buttons and stuff isn't really my area. I'm just gonna stick with landscapes for now. I'm kicking it into overdrive with Death Mountain, so hopefully it will be done by the middle of the week at latest.
Can't wait to see the new textures KMan!

whoops...looks like I was wrong. I gunned it (right now where I live it is 1:00 in the morning) and was able to finish Death Mountain Trail.
Here's some pics and the .rar file with everything I've worked on in it...
Water, hyrule field grass, Kokiri forest grass, 2 signs, boulders, Deku Tree bark (pardon the lower resolution), and everything (I think) in Death Mountain Trail.
As long as you give me credit if you every use it, it is now in the public's hand.

I found out an answer to hopfully all your problems, the images are too big. Youy should only try going 4x the size. Ex: 64=256, 32=128, 16=64. It's very simple, but easy to overlook, and yes, once you resize them to a smaller size, your textures work.
Beast_Blader, sorry if I offended you, what I should say is that the members of this thread (I'm pretty sure) are open for any new ideas into the Zelda project. I, just personally, don't like an extreme-anime type Link. When you get done with adult Link, I'd like to see it, so far no one has worked on that (at least not publically).

well, bad news, i already started doing a 2005 link and it's damn near impossible because the UV texture mapping coordinates on link's tunic are meant for simple lines and patterns, basically any details you do (like say... stitching or leather underarmor) get stretched and twisted and don't look... "normal" also the forearm of his gauntlets and the repeating texture for his belt don't change, i'm fairly sure it's a plugin bug because i've tried about 10 times now, same process i use on other cibyrgba textures and they all work, those 2 don't. also, if you're going to add things that you want to be colored other than the color of his tunic for details on the tunic you need to use a gameshark code to change his tunic to white, check my topic a few posts down from this one for the codes. and his boots use a level of detail type thing where when link is farther from the camera they switch to 1 small texture instead of 2 bigger ones, kind of annoying from a texturing perspective.

Could you help me on that, sending me the textures, or telling which textures do belong to Adult Link? If you don't want to, it's fine, but it would be a great help.

Acually, that lon lon case is really good, but the castle itself is sorta looking like a mario castle. Try and make it look more like stone.
Great work on Navi, that's probably your best yet. The fence still seems like it needs to be clearer, but it is improving. Great work on everything, but I still can't wait to see KMan's work of Kokiri forest. Just like everytime he makes a post, he blows all of our work away. And also, if you're going to post pictures of multiple texture, could you try putting them into just one post instead of doing multiple posts, cause technically by most message board rules, that's considered spamming. So yeah, one post for textures if you have worked on them in a short period of time.
I think what we (as in, not Fed and KMan) should try to work on things that we think they are not already working on (I had already started Death Mountain Trail when KMan posted his list). That way we are not trying beat each other at one thing and maybe we can get more things done faster, like working on the Hyrule castle and lon lon crates....hmm...maybe someone could work on the Gerudo Fortress.
Keep up the great work guys, and Fed and KMan, I can't wait to hear news from your side of the project.

You mean crazy as in good or bad? Personally, I need to change it, cause in a still picture it looks awsome, but seeing it move, it just doesn't seem real cause it doesn't move, and Fed's fire texture looksed the same way except a little more...silky. I don't think there is any way to make it look real while moving cause it never moves.

Is someone interested in downloading what i did? Should I open a new thread for my stuff?
The fountain looks a little more smoother, but other than that, I see no differance. No new thread. If you're going to do the graveyard, try going for very dark and creepy themes. As fr my stuff, try not focusing in on the fire, I'm working on that, instead try to focus on the walls and carpet (carpet still needs work as well).

Maybe it's better to show a picture with the original textures... I'll do it the next time.
I am not making it darker than it was before, i want to make it look more realistic but also to stay as near as possible to the original ones.
And the reason why i only mentioned the fire was that i didn't recognise the changes on the carpet and i thought that there was nothing to say about the walls, they look really good.

I hate the fire too, That's why I'm trying to work on it, but everytime I do it still doesn't look real. The picture just stays still and never moves while the (inside) fire texture moves like it's real (texture by Fed and KMan). But the outside texture that gives it it's shape, just never moves so I need to find a way to make it look like it's moving without it moving at all, maybe an optical illution or something, I dunno, I'll have to look things up.
Hey Fed, I'm just curious, but when are you guys coming out with V.17? Oh, what am I complaining about, perfection takes time. Keep it up.
BTW Jokke_r, considering I used the same texture as the original and just added a rocky look into the same bricks, I don't see how you could think it is not true to the original.

It is? Is it in the next pack? If not, then it isn't loading on my comp.
I agree, I like the musical notes, but the background images remind me of a filter I once used on photoshop for my friend's band's cd cover. I have never used 3dmax, so I'm not sure, but it was a great attempt. At least now it's one step closer to being perfect.

It's true, people can download it if they want or they if they don't want to, they don't have to, but Fed is really the final word on additions to his pack, if it's not up to those standards to be added, than it should still be up for download from that particular person, you know, like customization.

April 3rd, 2005, 00:20
Yes, I too agree that Fed makes the final choice. We absolutely have to have some kind of QA or this pack won't be up to the standards so many have previously set.
The work all of you have done on this is quite amazing. Some of these textures look so good that it makes me want to jump up and down. Let's keep up the good work and try and get this thing finished. The progress that has been made for only one month of work is superb.
That being said, TallgeeseIII, is there a way you could keep the same model in 3dSM, but also take the suggestions into account? Modeling in SM is very time consuming, so we don't want you to have wasted all of that. Maybe try a version 2.0 with a few minor texturing and gradient changes.
I sure wish the graphic artists and I here in the grad department could help, but alas, all we have is a room full of G5's. No Rice love for us ;(

OK, so i got this 'skyeffects' plugin for photoshop, and I can create some high res skies with it, right? Well I tried replacing what I thought was the cloudy sky and it went hay wire! <attach> So if any of you geniuses out there can help explain to me how i should select which dumps to use and how to re-name them, I'd be more than thrilled!! :P
http://home.comcast.net/~link1922/THE-LEGEND-OF-ZELDA-26.jpg
This image is an example of the sky filter. The angle, haze fog, cloud frequency, sun position and perspective can all be changed. With the proper dumps I can create a more accurate rendering then make it tessalate so it wraps around the sky seamlessly! But i need the dumps!

That seems to me like a palette problem.
The resized texture must have the EXACT palette of the original texture.
In your case you tried to make a 24-Bit texture out of 8-Bit texture. That's why it's so messed up 'cause the palette is total messed up and stuff.
You have to save the palette first (I don't know how you do this in Photoshop since I use Paint shop Pro for retexturing) and then apply the saved palette to the new texture and save this texture and so'n'so and blabla.
Make a long story short: Save the old palette, apply it to the new texture, problem should be solved then ;)

I just tried this, all you have to do is scale the image 4x (to 128x128) then add an alpha channel (in thegimp use layer -> transparency -> add alpha channel) and make sure it is an _cibyrgba.png image.

April 3rd, 2005, 19:35
You should not use _ciByRGBA for sky textures. The sky textures need to change palette during the game.

Some graphic glitches are quite normal.
Zelda-OoT is one of the games which have problems in emulating correctly and stuff.
OK, some of your problems (like the yellow Link or those missing textures in the title screen) should normally be solved with the new graphics plugin (at least I have no problems besides the following).
This glitch in the menu, that Link doesn't show up, is pretty sure normal. I haven't been able to see Link just once in the menu. It ever messes up. At least on my emulator with my settings.

Good point. So let's get back on subject. If you havn't figured it out already, I found out the problem with the one invisible heart. Apparently, there is no hires 1/2, 2/4, or 3/4 heart bar made, so the loader isn't loading it. Also, I've done more with Ganon's Castle, tell me what you think: I've got more work to go, but the second and third pics represents the two color schemes, tell me which one you would like better... (I'm also working on all the door medallions, but this is the only one I've done so far.)...whoops, tiling on the walls need work, I'll get on that.

And for picture #2:
OMFG THAT'S ABSOLUTELY FREAKING AWESOME!!
Really! I love it! Really hard! From behind! (or something xD)
EDIT: Forgot to say something about the Shadow medal:
It looks very good, but there's seomthing that bothers me:
This 3D-effect on it. It makes the medal look like it has just a detailing texture on it. Perhaps you could use some plugin for Photoshop or PSP (what ever you're using) that makes this look a bit glass like, so the detail on it gets kinda ditsorted (if I used the right word).
Hmm...better look at the link below to get a view of what I meant :D
Klick me to get a better view (http://img31.exs.cx/img31/3891/tellthedifference1et.png)
On the left is the one with the glass effect, on the right it's a simple put 3D-Effect.
So, I hope you know what I mean and all that stuff blabla.
And don't forget:
Your Tower of Ganon Entrance looks absolutely awesome ;)
