Hi! Do you guys know any news about the new Chankast? Anything, any comment from the authors...
Iīd like to know if there will be speedups, i got an Athlon XP 2400+ but its not enough still, most games play slowly... Im really looking forward a new version, so i can play Soul Reaver. The PC and PSX versions doesnt do this game justice :) Currently, it plays slowly (or too fast, if capcom hack is turned on), at 40 fps-ish in my pc, and crashes by the first time you shift realms in the tutorial (doesnt seem to be a gfx bug, it crashes with the elder god saying something, looping forever... audio crash? its strange, since the entire tutorial is missing speech, and it crashes right in the middle of the first working speech).
Btw, do you guys think Sega will try to buy Chankast? I think they will, just like they did with GiriGiri... Chankast is even more promising technically, its almost perfect and has very high compatibility... GiriGiri was good too, but plagued by Saturnīs complexity, i think it was less compatible and missed more features.
Way to go, chanka team! You guys rule! And i mean it, cause the Icarus team is working on their emu for a LONG time, and it still isnt in Chankast level!

giri giri, huh.I think that sega's auctions were bought by some american company or something(i saw that on CNN).Sega still exists, but I dont think they will make any new consoles any time soon.As for buying Chankas-My god,NO-I hope they dont do it!Its like taking away the hope of million people and fans of sega.I've heard there is a good saturn emulator(satourin) by some french guys.
I want to know too what is going on with their development on the new version.I mean, thats the main reason we all keep revisiting this forum. We wanna know more about what is happening back there.I know that this might cause panic or something, but you should make a locked topic, which is updated only by the moderators. The rules still will be rules anyway
...one more thing in my reply-
Dont ask when your favourite game will be playable or demand anything, because they might ban you.The info you gave might be helpfull for the compability list tho.

Really it's up the the mods, and the rules state that you aren't supposed to ask about a new version.

I don't think tha Sega purchases Chankast because their product is dead (DreamCast), they don't sell or support it anymore, but nobody know, about the chankast project i think that is dead, but I hope to be mistaken.

i guess microsoft must be dead too. they haven't released a new os for a while now.
come to think of it, i must be dead too 'cause i haven't done any programming in the last month. :P
precisely what are the magical number of days that must elapse before a projects status changes from alive to dead?

Think of this. Chankast came out in early summer. We are now in fall. this is the time when people have school. Many things start back up. They could have exams or classes to study for. Also with this much stuff going on it is harder to coordinate between the authors. Give them time. I am pleased with what they have done so far.

we are all pleased with what they have done so far but.....no sign of life? I think they should at least make a post that says we have been busy and we are having a hard time getting around to the emulator or something..... its the least they can do, and to everyone that is like "they have done this for free they dont have to do anything for you" well.....by making an emulator that TONS of ppl want....u basically just signed urself over to constant begging and popularity and u should expect that.....
(cant wait for ur stupid comments to those ppl who keep saying they dont owe us anyhthign...which they dont but they have no right to be mad at ppl for asking about releases)

stupid comments
I'm assuming you are referring to comments similar to the ones contained in the 2 PM's you sent me. I'd be more inclined to call them abusive/uneducated drivel. :plain:

That's why I don't like this kind of threads. Everytime someone will pop up and start asking for news, releases or even a sign of life from the authors and after that he'll turn into a "smart little bastard" who knows that everyone else is going to tell him to STFU (and yes I'm talking about KageGT in the particular case).

Really KageGT, I don't think it's the authors of the emulators you are pissing off with stupid posts like that, I think you are just pissing the moderators and the other users who have to read posts like yours. Sure the authors should expect people to ask for updates, but READ THE FORUM RULES it states not to ask for updates.
aika-san
November 10th, 2004, 10:23
Yep. I really don't understand it KageGT. Of course everyone wants to see a new version. I want to see a new version. I'd say about 99.99999% of people here want to see a new version. But wanting to see and demanding to see are 2 different things. There's about 80% of people here who have the self-control to resist their urges and about 20% who don't give a shit. If you did a survey on this you would find that the 80% generally represent the older generation and the 20% would represent the younger generation. So which category do you fit into?
We have both been members on this forum for around the same amount of time:
I looked at your previous posts, and they basically amount to this:
How do I get it running? (I'm really stupid because I helped you here)
How do I get it running faster?
I know the rules, but who cares 'Where's the next version?'
My previous posts are:
Please dont break the rules by asking for a new version? (If you were not aware of the rules.)
Don't break the damn rules? (If you were aware of the rules, but persisted anyway.)
Having trouble with the emulator, maybe I can help. Here's my advice.
Skies Of Arcadia doesn't work. Let's fix that. I'll program a patch to help.
At the moment I'm also helping make a No-CD patch for the PC game Sacred Plus. Not because I need it, because I can already run it without needing a patch. Not because I think it's a good game, because I think it's mediocre at best. No, I'm doing this to help other people less fortunate than myself who do like the game. This stuff takes countless hours of time and there's nothing in it for me other than the few posts after I get it working that say thankyou. Do you see how I use most of my time helping people? You now know enough about the emulator to be able to help other new users get it running. There's nothing more rewarding than helping someone else who is having trouble. Why don't you spend some time doing that? Virtually everyone who has been here for more than 5 minutes is. It can't be always about yourself otherwise it starts to look a bit self-centered and greedy. If everyone operated like yourself, then only technically minded users would be able to get it going. Other people need help too you know.
I can't believe I took the time to help you get the damn thing running. You sure can't judge a book by it's cover. And if you send me any more PM's like you sent me before, I'm going to copy and post them for everyone to see. I've got nothing to hide and from now on that will include your PM's. You need to grab your dictionary and look up the words 'morals' and 'ethics'. While you are at it, look up a japanese anime series called Rurouni Kenshin and watch the entire 96 episodes.
I've said my piece, and I now won't respond to anything you post unless it's a PM. So you can talk about whatever the hell you like. I don't care any more.
