I read many things about ripping and such. Just wondering does chanka run DC games saved on your hard drive, or do you have to rip them onto a disk to run them. Im confused by the many ways to rip games. Is there more then one way of ripping. I read that you can rip games onto DvDs and play them on ya DC. I also think I heard you can save games to ya hard drive and run them through chanka. Is that correct?
Im obviously confused, hope I worded that so its understandable.

You have to mount your selfripped images on a virtual drive or only burn them on a cd, because it only can loads from a CD. It can't load images. A good thing would be to make them selfbootable, too! there are a lot of tools out there, try exoboot, a wonderful tool I have to admit!
A the alst thing is the save thing: chankast emulates a VMU, that means virtual Memory Unit (if I remember the right way) that's a memory card for a DC, that means you can play and save your games like on a real DC, but don't have to buy a new mem card if your one is full. Only make a new one and you can play other games!
Hope your questions are answered! If you have more, only ask!

Actually it's both visual and virtual memory unit. The name differs from the US and PAL version.

DVD's do not run on a dreamcast in any shape or form, it is a Yahama modified CD-rom drive (IE, custom GD-rom firmware).
You either have to burn the image of a Cd onto a CD or emulate a cd rom drive. So really chanka only plays copied games. If you're wondering how to rip ure own u need a broadband or lan adaptor (Serial cable is hella slow) and a few tools, have a search around.
