GREAT IDEA! Thought in a related way:
You will be warned the first 20 post for not asking for roms/isos/new version or make feature comments. Only an idea to reduce the bannings, which our poor mods have to make every day! :)

Yeah i know, but there's gotta be sum way that new members could have automatic pms without a mod sendin them out all the time

weve been thru this kind of kind of ideas multiple times actually...

you get a huge ass reminder of that when you join. and reminding people in even more ways about the rules probably wont help a lot in my opinion. after all most people who join the board with the intention of asking for roms there will do it even if they know they arent allowed to because they dont care if they get banned.

True, but it'll probably greatly reduce the number of idiots who do this

I doubt it will have any effect, I mean you have to agree not to ask for them in the first place to join emutalk.

most n00b's won't even read the PM's so there is little point to this.
But a warning message which appears before posting a new thread, could work! But only the first 20 post, then it stops and the n00bs should had understood what this message means!

What about making a general newbie forum, where newbies are only allowed to post until they reach a certain amount of posts, where they can post about anything they like.

Usually the people who get banned quickly are newbies, if we rounded em up the mods might have an easier time dealing with them, just a thought.

whats up with this elitism? how about we just dont allow people under 100 posts and without administrator approval to access all forums? its this kind of "booha, im a big h4x0r motherfucker and you are just a n00b" shit that makes me refrain from a lot of other boards out there and i dont think we have a need for that here. no personal offense intended btw.

"seperate and not equal" :yucky:

Well I did say it was only a thought; I personally don't care either way its not my job to decide these things, i've seen other forums do it hence why I brought it up, because if newbies really are such a problem you may have to go to extremes.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think they are... but perhaps they are to someone.

Just Another Wacko ;)
Talking about PMs... After a release/update of an emulator there is a quite high number of n00bs who register and in order to avoid being banned they ask for illegal matterial via PMs (this is quite annoying). We could set a minimum number of posts before someone could send a PM. What do you think?

As a forum newbie this is all sounding a bit anti. Surely people agree that you always want new members, but not all new members will read posting rules before they start. One way of encouraging sensible posting is to let new members only view posts for the first week after registering, but not reply or post new threads.

That way hopefully people will browse and find relevant posts before just lazily posting a duplicate. They might even read the posting rules. What do you think?

Right... so when they need help, they come, register, wait a week, then post their problems? Don't think so. I think they'll search elsewhere, actually.

for me i think we should make a forum for newbies and c how many people break the rules and then the mods and admin will approve the newbies to get access to the other forums :whistling .well thats my opinion :saint: :canadian:
