Okay I got Win2k installed a bit ago but haven't done any kind of massive tweaks yet. But what I have done is did some benches at different cpu speeds with the card @ stock.

The bottleneck of the CPU is amazing, to say the least.

2500+ & X800 Pro stock

2500+ @ 3200+ & X800 Pro stock

2500+ @ 2580Mhz & X800 Pro stock

I'm gonna still do some testing of the card too and i'll add those results to the thread. But wow... 25% performance increase by just upping the cpu [bigsmile].

3dmark 2k1 is pretty CPU dependant. Try the same experiment in 2k3 and you won't see much of an increase. Maybe a couple thousand at most. Still, this generation of video cards are definately CPU limited on most systems.

I'm thinking about upgrading to an Athlon 64 system soon to alleviate most of the CPU bottlenecking that is quite apparant on my system. ;)

Yeah you're right for the most part.

2500+ and x800 pro @ stock = 8966

2500+ @ 3200+ stock x800pro = 9758

2500+ @ 2580mhz and stock x800pro = 10681

A64 is definately the route... the only question these days is which one and which mobo. 4000+ and FX-55 comin out next month and so. Also the .09 parts are coming out soon. Also a lot of a64 mobo's are no good for ocing it seems.

Decisions decisions...

I was gonna get a 3500+ but they're $50 more than a 3400+ and slower than it at times. 3700+ with good mobo sounds like the best idea.
