Graphic bugs and BIG SLOW DOWN PROBLEM !

Hi every one,

I've currently using Chankast v0.25 and I have a lot of issues with the emulator.

First of all, there are several graphic bugs in Soul Calibur who occur at the character selection screen and at the beginning of every stage. Here is the screen capture :

<img src = "http://doananhtuan.free.fr/Chankast/1.jpg">

Since the emulator is at its early release, I suppose it's quite normal to see some bugs

Another problem I have, and the most annoying one, is the big slowndown in Soul Calibur. There is a post on this forum about the speed obtained in Soul Calibur. I have the same specs than many of you but my SC is strangely slow.

My specs :

Pentium 4 2.8Ghz HyperThreading ON
512 Mo DDR PC 3200
Intel chipset i865
Geforce Ti 4200 128 Mo
IBM HD 80 GO 7200 rpm

What is stunning is that in the game, I have only 19 fps but when I change the focus to another application (task manager in the following exmaple), the framerate raises up to 46fps ! Does anyone know the cause of this slowdown please ?

In game slowndown :

Focus on another app, framerate raises :

For info I use Chankast v0.25 with Darkman DInput plugin

About The Glitches . . . You Are Right, Just An Early Release So It's Like That. The Slow Down . . . Happens To Me As Well, Most People Have A Slow Running Soul Calibur But Mine Runs At 45/60 Still Slower Than Usual.

whats using the other 50% of your cpu power? sort them by cpu usage and see if anything else is using up the power.

If your using Windows 2000 there is an option to set priority on background tasks or foreground tasks. It defaults to background tasks. I'm not sure exactly where is is, but something like right click on My Computer and go to properties, then the performance tab.

This may not be the solution, but just a thought.

damn bumer man, I got the same cpu you do and I run at 68/60 on mine. I got a 1gb ram though, and dont worry about the 50% cpu load crap, is just chankast doesnt use hyper threading yet so it use only one thread at a time.
put your priority to high on chankast. I gonna try to recreate your problem seein that you and I a similar system.

I've set the priority of Chankast to the Highest (even Critical !) but nothing changes..... And it's very disturbing that the change of Focus accelerates the game so much. It defies any sense of logic

I've put the DarkMan DInput to play with my gamepad, I'm wondering if it's the cause. The one difference when I toggle from Chankast to another application is the control of the game. Maybe the game speeds up when the controls are disable.....

IT'S CALLED AN ALPHA RELEASE IT'S NOT PERFECT FOR THE LOVE OF EMULATION!!!!!

Writing in huge letters will not get your point across kid. We know it is an alpha release and ussually similar systems perform the same.

those huge letters where totally unnecesary. :p

Saying you donate doesnt give you the right to write like that.

I've Found The Cause Of The Bug !!!

Finally I've found the cause of this bug. It's very simple. As I said in my last post, the only difference when you toggle from Chankast to another application is the control of the game (DirectInput). I've thought that DarkMan Direct Input plugin slowndown the game but it's not logic since I'm the only one who has this issue (otherwise we would have a big topic complaining about Darkman Direct Input plugin). I've checked out and in fact the problem comes from my Parallel Port gamepad driver. I've made in the past a Parellel port adapter to play with PSX gamepad on PC and it seems that deactivating this driver solves my problem :D

Uh oh, which one are you using??? I use a paralelport gamepaddriver to to play... How much faster does it play now? Mine is running 40-45fps

I'm using the PP Joy driver (Parallel Port Joystick). I think that when it's activated, since the speed of the parallel port is slower than the usb one, all Direct Input is slown down too. I've gained 15 fps by deactivating it.
