Sorry hellknight but I'm sure he means either :

- The special star world (It's on the moon)
- Or he means the special little level In the second world (you can get a mushroom , fireflower , feather and a Yoshi here and there are no enemies what so ever)

If this doesn't help check :

hellknight
January 21st, 2002, 20:09

It's located in the second area just before the second castle (Not sure how to get it though because it has been a while since I played it)

I seem to remember there being a total of either 96 or 98 worlds in SMW... I'm sure it was an even number.... haaaa... if I can dig up my old SNES cart and get a shot of it, i'll pass it along. :D

OCTuuk
January 25th, 2002, 20:55
it were 96
cuz then you'll get a lovely star behind it

_gpf_
January 25th, 2002, 21:29
Ahhh... yes I remember the special star.

And whom do you kick ass with in Smash Bros? Is it Melee or the good ol' classic one?

dave_luther
January 25th, 2002, 21:43
yeh, those special stages were very weird IN SMW

hellknight
January 25th, 2002, 21:54
what star?do you mean the special star world?

_gpf_
January 25th, 2002, 21:58
Nonono... when you complete all 96 stages, a star will appear by the "96" on the main screen when you select which data you are going to play from.

dave_luther
January 25th, 2002, 22:07
i dont remember/ never noticed, its been 6 long years

hellknight
January 25th, 2002, 22:24
but do you remember anothere special world then star and SPECIAl world?

dave_luther
January 25th, 2002, 23:44
all i remember is that the special worlds are crazily laid out and quite hard, when you finish em all it makes a star shape and when you go back to the normal world, its red, the koopas are wearing luigi heads, the vines have pumpkin heads etc. its crazy oh and this world contains different coloured yoshis

hellknight
January 25th, 2002, 23:48
thats the star world

_gpf_
January 26th, 2002, 00:34
no, the star world is its own separate world. it is the pretty one which has 6 stars connected by paths, 5 of which connect to other worlds. the way I understood it is that, when you access the middle star, the original world is transformed into some odd luigi land or something.

dave_luther
January 26th, 2002, 01:09
yes, the star worlds connect the big mario world together, and the funky yoshis can be found there, my bad!

Pheo
January 26th, 2002, 02:00
the one for gba, seems to only have 93 and i cannot go to the (i thought it was halloween when i was younger) mode after the star world.
it just puts you to the beginning
very dissapointing, like on ma1 when stated you can play yoshi
if anyone wants to check my save just let me know and i'll e-mail the .sav file to you.

i hate what ninetndo is doing, which is milking money out of of 10+ year old titles. just take any old game and rename it Mario advance <insert number here>

hellknight
January 26th, 2002, 23:21
i would like to have a mario world with new levels only that. no better graphic etc.

January 27th, 2002, 10:03
I'm not so sure I dislike what Nintendo is doing, mostly because they just don't have a choice.

For one, I thought that melee was incredible. They did a great job revamping some classics like the ice climbers, doctor mario, and ganon. To be honest, I think its great to bring back oldies and spiff them up and make a quality game with them... every now and then that is.

I think that maybe we do need to some more originality from Nintendo, but considering their licensing is very limited (and why did they stick with carts so long, again?), they will need a lot to do so.

hellknight
January 27th, 2002, 20:36
mmm I think thje world doesn't exist:D

_gpf_
January 27th, 2002, 22:21
lol, sure, we'll just say the world doesn't exist. fine by me! :D

maybe sony will decide they wish to join the handheld video-game world and create a system with one or two flash card inputs and be capable of reading mp3s, text, mpegs, and pics from a digital camera, along with a collection of squaresoft generation games....
but maybe i'm just dreaming again, :D
i mean the gba can pretty much do that

Oooooh.... Sony handheld system... *drool*

Ah, I know everything about Mario World since I've beaten it more times than I can remember. And I've also found _ALL_ exits to get to _ALL_ stages, etc, etc......

And some notes:

The "special stage" was the one already told by the ghost house. Yes, that's the special stage which has no enemies, just some power-ups (although I never use it since I never need it :D).

There's also the "star world". And when completing the star world and accessing the middle star, you come to "special world". When beating special world, the enemies of the game transforms. Like the koopas, gets a mario-head, etc...
It's also autumn.

Yes, all of these statements are true. What is funny is watching someone brag about their Super Mario World accomplishments ;)

It was called "Tubular". It was the one where you had to rely on those "P"s so you can float throught the level right? That was the hardest level in the whole game, imo. It took me about 50 times to beat it the first time (I was like 7 years old then). The rest of the game however, was too easy :)

Damn! I hated that level! Thanks to it I stopped playing it for seven years, until I grew more experienced with platform games.
Just kidding, but it really was HARD!

Doomulation
August 24th, 2002, 22:57
Tobular wasn't too hard afaik...
The one stage that really was any hard was outrageous or whatever it was called.

Even today, i use to skip it by flying over the entire stage ^_^

Hehe, funny one.
I'm too lazy to go through that stupid stage.
And how would it be cheating if they made it possible in the game? ;)

Afaik, i went through that entire stage without cheating today.
It wasn't too hard IMO.

September 8th, 2002, 19:14
doom... as far as i know? i think you would know if you beat the level today LOL but hey, whatever... i'll admit that i really did cheat to beat all those outrageous, cool, awesome, levels, i cheated by using zsnes and save states :D and yes i musta hit whatever the f key is to reload about 8 million times during some of them.

that game totally kicks ass, it is THE game that got me into emulation as a whole.

/me goes to play some zsnes.

Doomulation
September 14th, 2002, 19:21
Hehe, that's real cheating.
Just flying over the stage wasn't real cheating, although i do admit it is cheating in some way :P

Try to beat the levels without cheating next time ;)

Well, thats a mixed issue. Save states are only cheating if you are playing a game that only lets you save at specific points of the game. If you can save anywhere at any point during the game then its just a faster way to save and not really cheating.

adi
September 19th, 2002, 23:01
its not reaaaaaaaally cheating if you think about it long enough, but it certainly makes the game a lot easier and thats why i dont do it.

i love super mario world, i must have wasted all my life for a month getting the 96 levels unlocked on my bros GBA

Anchel

[QUOTE]CONTRADICT ME AND DIE[QUOTE]
It is cheating :P
*waits for adi's response, scared

Doomulation
September 22nd, 2002, 16:26
Well, it is mostly cheating unless used the right way.
Like in SMW, you can't save everywhere (how easy would it be then?). So making a state and loading for when for example, you die, that's cheating.

And that's what you did, anchel!
Shame on j00!

I've finished recently this level without savestates. Took me a long while, but did it.
