yes i know questions like this have been asked... i poste dthis information to help someone else today, but i did searches and the next neweest post was from april... then earlier, and in this market time is important

i was debating between two cards... ATI 9800 pro and 5900xt

from these it would seem the ati is slightly better, but its pretty close.......

oh also... should i not upgrade at all? i have a geforce 4 mx 440 in a p4 2.4 ghz computer... is it not worth it?

id be willing to spend the 192/194 there... they are practically the same amount...

id say 9800pro, or if ur willin to spend a bit more, get the 9800xt

nah no more than that... its allready pushing me to get this

(had to hear the guilt trip speech first before she okayed it... even tho its some of my summer job money she kept going on about college.... the rest of my money goes for that but i figure i shouldb eable to get somethign)

lol, i know exactly wot u mean, it took me ages to convince my parents for me to get this pc! well get the 9800pro then, its a gr8 card and performs (if only marginally) better than a 5900

yeah my mom asked me what a video card was for... i explained how it was anything video related with the comptuer... i never once mentioned games...

i think she knows tho, but whatever....

well it took a few tries and a long talk wiht the mom but i ordered it this morning....

she just was quiet and angry and said how i was just trying to undo the mistake i made before--- the mx 440

she also knows that its mainly for games... i couldnt lie to her- if she figured it out on her own id be dead

anyways its not gonna get any different and i made the money at my summer job so i thought i should be able to get it

i told her i could get the 9800 and itd be fine... but she said she would return it because she didnt wanna do the cheap way and make a mistake again... i told her its differnt... before it was 100 vs 150 and i got 150 but she didnt understand

its ok tho... she will egt over it and ill stilll goto college...

i didnt end up getting this one... i got the retail boxed MSI one with all kinds of stuff... i might even upgrade it to 9800XT (i know you can do it if mine can handle the heat which i think it can)
