is there a plugin that allows me to use a USB computer controller?

i use an adaptoid and that's usb. i think that your gamepad/joystick needs to be directinput compatible (directx)
chck for updated drivers for it

well, i guess what I'm asking is how do you config the joystick buttons? For example, when I want to set the c-up button to a button on the controller, I click to change it, then I press the button, and nothing happens. It's like my controller isn't talking to the emulator at all.

I have the same problem with my gamepad.
I use it in other applications, it's perfect, but with the plgin 1.79 in the pj64, nothing happens.

When you look at the configuration panel of N-Rage's Input Plugin v1.79 you can see a tabpage called "Devices", click it! Then select your joystick at "Gamepad"->"Device" and configure the buttons.
