HOTD2 1 & 2 Player Problem

Hi, when I start a 1P game of House of The Dead 2 the game starts in 2P mode (both cursors on screen)? I checked the gamepad config to see that 1 & 2 player start were not assigned to the same button and they are not.
Very impressed so far with Chanka BTW ;-)
